Throttle control for ED with MS sidewinder FF2

I really love the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, but the throttle control is absolutely weak.

Anyone have a USB based throttle control that isn't junk, and cooperates well with the SFF2?

I have a MS Sidewinder FF2, byt since there is no force feedback, I ditched it for a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas-X.
I don't have the money to spend to get the real high Hotas gear, but the Hotas-X is excellent, and I mean excellent value at about £30.

One really nice feature is that it has a detent at mid throttle, which is nice if you want to have full forward and reserve, but I have forward only set up in the control options, and the mid throttle detent is exactly right for approaching in super cruise. Full throttle until the ETA is about 10sec, the mid throttle all the way in.

It only has one hat switch, but this can be used in various modes. When in flight it controls my up/down & left/right trusters, when in the UI it controls that. Still need to program the Galaxy map.

I have it in 5-axis mode, so I control the yaw by twisting the grip, and on the throttle I use the rocker for fore/aft thrusters

For the money you can't go wrong IMHO

I too bought the HOTAS X for this game, but I'm not gonna lie, I've been eyeing the more expensive ones the last few days! Do they not all have that mid way detent in the throttle? I use reverse a lot when docking, but I suppose I could just assign a button to it like the vertical thrust. I also like that the HOTAS X has a rudder control on the throttle and the joystick. Allows for normal yaw with the stick and left/right thrust with the throttle. For the money, it's really well built and reasonably heavy enough to keep it stable. It looks a little cheap, but once you're using it, it feels very well made, and if you're using a rift you can't even see it.
