Horizons Thrust master T hotas X users

I don't actually use the Throttle, there isn't enough bindings on it and no way to bind lateral and vertical thrust so my left hand is on keyboard,
WASD tied to lateral and vertical thrust,
Forward and backward bound to Q and E for landing and quick speed shifts
space to boost,
shift and ctrl for throttle
tab for next sub system
everything else is pretty much defaults

Right hand I use the stick
with systems managment on HAT
Btn 1 and 2 on fire and secondary fire respectively
btn 3 is target ahead
btn 4 chaff

As a side question, does yours squeak? Mines quite old now (10 years ish i think) and its becoming quite annoying. I also had an issue a few weeks back that required me to disassemble the main stick to adjust the rudder controls which had become loose from its housing.
Has anyone managed to separate the rocker rudder from the main twist rudder?

Thanks saltyseadog, but that is really for generating a listing of the bindings that you have already set. I'm looking for the bindings that someone has already set for themselves and are using, that prove to be most/very useful for play overall. Hotas is in the mail and I'm hoping people can help get me going without a lot of trial-and-error on my part . Of course I will probably make changes over time.

so the three buttons on the throttle on the side are power distribution 5, 6 and 7 do system, engine and weapons.
button 8 does focus on ui (so i scroll through the ui windows)
9 is target next sub system, 10 is landing gear.
the slider thing left is boost, right is toggle fsd

the SE button is deploy hard points..

trigger is fire 1.
i use 2 for select target
and button 4 is for fire 2 (other way round would work as well)
the Pov hat is thrusters up down left and right..

in the ui pov hat navigates, trigger selects. button 3 exits. 2 and 4 scroll tabs..

and i think thats about it. i dont use chaff so dont need those But it could be bound to 9+8 i guess
I dont carry heat sink things but again could be bound to 9 + 5..
Seems to work pretty well like this for me.. but i did key bind for my usage.
I suppose if i used chaff i could set that to se button and depoly hard points to 8+10 as i would always be using landing gear and going to the contacts menu when i arrived at a station, and thats when i would always want my guns put away..

I think its the same stick..

i have a thrustmasters t-flight hotas x

As I mentioned I do not have the hotas yet , arriving Wed. I do have a wonderful older Saitek T/F 36 Hotas, that worked great up to WIN Vista, but is not even recognized by my WIN 8.1 machine. So I sought out a reasonably priced alternative .
Granted, not at all the bells and whistles of a more better (sic) unit. I wish I still had my CH hotas, but alas...
The Thrustmaster looks pretty good for the price.

Thanks guys.

Here we go. Ditch the standard layout. I came up with this after a lot of tweaking and it works for me.
Banished to the keyboard:
- Silent Running
- Landing Gear
- Cargo Scoop
- Galaxy Map
- System Map
- Debug Camera
- Quick Comms
Mouse:
- Headlook
Undefined:
JETTISON ALL CARGO

To each their own, but good luck trying to steer the turret with the hat in a close combat fight.

Just in case you CMDR's didn't realise, you can chord the T-Flight buttons.

E.g. On my configuration (still a WIP) I use Throttle buttons 5, 6 and 7 as alternate shifts for the buttons on the joystick.

Throttle Nothing + J-Stick 2 = Boost
Throttle 5 + J-Stick 2 = Chaff
Throttle 6 + J-Stick 2 = Previous fire group
Throttle 7 + J-Stick 2 = FSD to Super Cruise

This way you have more than enough functionality to only need the keyboard for typing in system names for navigation, or chatting to others.

I think I have it mapped to the mouse as well. TBH I just haven't done a lot of combat in the SRV, certainly nothing remotely challenging. I'd recommend mouse control for that I think.

Thanks, I didn't know. I dislike using the hat switch for power management though.

I just have the button 8 as a shift button, this doubles up most of my joystick buttons, and also allows me to use the throttle paddle axis twice, i use the 2 smaller buttons on the throttle base for landing gear and galaxy map.
the 3 buttons on the throttle side are for shield cells, chaff, and FSD. (top 2 also used for ui next\previous tab) One on back is boost as it is easy reach when holding throttle, one further down the back is FA off. shift (8) and trigger is hardpoints, trigger is fire weapon 1, striped key no 2 is secondry fire and headlook off with shift., (i have the edtracker) 4 is back key and target ahead, also shift + 4 is fire group. Hat switch is vertical and lateral thrusters, with shift (8) pressed it is power management, it is also used for navigating the ui, paddle axis is ui left right when shift is pressed, normal it is next\previous target, it is also forward\reverse thrusters with landing overides.
I love my t-flight, and find with my macro keyboard, i only use the macro buttons for request docking, camera ect.

I did succesfully use it for the srv, but i found my wired xbox controller to be better for the srv.

My HOTAS settings are as illustrated (full resolution original here):-

Interesting to know we can use HOTAS X buttons as shift buttons but never liked the idea personally, too much room for error when in a furball.

For me, using the throttle buttons as shift buttons is a means to an end.
I'm trying to eliminate the need for a keyboard as much as possible so I can hopefully buy a VR system in 2016 and use it without having to regularly take it off in-game (never did learn to touch-type).

Step 1 is to learn to switch from a left handed joystick for the last 40 years to a right handed HOTAS. This is proving to be a challenge :)

I use a somewhat unusual setup compared to many players, but it's taken me from one side of the galaxy to the other and back :)

Bear in mind I also use VoiceAttack and TrackIR, so I don't need any headlook bindings and a lot of simple keybinds are issued as voice commends.

WOW! Thanks every one, especially for the diagrams! I feel like I have someplace to start from now. Just need the HOTAS to arrive tomorrow.

See this site... you can probably download most if not all of the illustrated configurations from there.
