Newcomer / Intro Thrusters - Not working when I draw up landing gear...?

When using my thrusters to take off (from a station, or a planetary base), the thrusters stop working when I retract my landing gear
Is there a reason for this..?

(Taking off from a station is not too bad - once the blue timer starts running, it's possible to retract the landing gear and THEN apply the thrusters
But this little workaround isn't available when taking off from a planetary surface - you need to fire up the thrusters to get the ship off the surface, but as soon as you retract the landing gear the thrusters stop working...)

Am I doing something wrong...?

This is a known bug I believe.

My workarounds are to either lift off the pad on the thrusters then start to climb away on main engines retracting the gear when I am moving, or take off on the thrusters then when I retract the gear and the thrust drops I stop pressing the thrust control then start over with it .

I use the first technique on planets and the second more on stations.

Okay first thing that comes to my mind is that you have some botched landing override set up. Check your controls and delete every binding in "Landing overrides" section. The override is activated by the landing gear and there could be some binding collision.

If it's not the case, well...
I have the vertical thrusters on an analog axis, so I haven't encountered anything like this, but isn't it just a matter of colliding simultaneous commands? I mean that the "retract landing gear" command cuts the "thrust up" command.
Have you tried releasing the up-thrust, then retract landing gear, and then reapply the thrusters? (If you switch FA off for this, you will even keep the upwards momentum)

Thanks again Chris - this was indeed the problem - I had some key binding duplicated in the LANDING OVERRIDES section and once I deleted these settings the problem disappeared
