Newcomer / Intro Thrusters off line - any way to rescue the situation?

I suspect I'm the victim of an ambush. Lots of gold cannisters floating through space, then I'm hit quickly and before I know it I have no shields, so I run.

Having escaped, I'm down to around 33% with thrusters off line, which means I can't jump and am just drifting through space at 270. I there any rescuing the situation, or am forced to self-destruct?

There should be a complete reboot option in the right hand UI menu under functions.

This will cannibalise working parts to get a non-functional part operational. It will give the broken system something like 1% health, so be careful and don't get into any fights.

And if you drop into a USS like that again, run!

Thanks - it fixed a non-operational part, but not the thrusters! So I'm not even moving anymore! It'd be an expensive rebuy and I'll lose a lot of bounty.

Any other ideas?

I think you can repair thrusters if you have a reparation kit on board... which I assume you don't.
therefore... beside giving your cargo to a friend...

What percentage are your thrusters at?

Make sure you turn them back on after repair sequence too.

Try it again?

Turn off all non-critical modules and run the reboot/repair thing again?

That's about all I have. This reboot/repair is a new feature which only came out last Tuesday. Before that your only option was a self destruct.

Rebooting does repair thrusters, I had to do it last night. It takes quite a while though so beware if you're still in combat, and as an earlier poster said you have to then turn the module back on.

Thanks guys - I hadn't turned the module back on. I've now safely docked at Readdy Gateway, 2250 credits on repairs and am ready to get back out there!

After I've put my son to bed, of course.

What an excellent adventure!!

I can imagine the fear and frustration of a pilot, stuck in space, rebooting his systems over and over again hoping that the engines will fire. Oh, wait, that was Apollo 13! I loved that movie!!!!!

haha, too right!

Unfortunately for me, I'd done something to annoy the feds, who started shooting at me before I left the station and made fairly short work of me thereafter. Does anyone know a quick way to endear oneself to them?

Glad there was a happy ending.

I'm headed off into the void again myself and I noticed earlier today I have a 74K fine on me (for god knows what - probably carrying onionhead). Trouble is I'm over 1000LY from inhabited space and only 4h to pay off the fine. I'm sure I'll be in some federal trouble when I get back...

In fact, now that I think about this more logically I should probably turn back now and see if I can get back in time before I get a bounty. I don't want to return after exploring and be shot to death before I sell my data...
