High density combat zone.
'Bandit on my six' shouts the enemy anaconda. Whatever he tries he just can't shake my viper. Strafing left and right I try my best to hover in his blind spot and continue to lock weapons on his power plant. I don't know who I'm fighting or who I'm even fighting for but as long as they pay me that's all I need. 11% power plant ... 10% ... 9% I can already taste the profits.
Then it happens. Out of nowhere his backup arrives. An ASP starts to hit me with his lasers. I have full shields but only 40% hull so if they go down I know I'm done for. Taking evasive action I bank upwards planning to disengage and line up for one more run on the anaconda and destroy it but the ASP predicts my move. The ASP Rams me head on and I spin wildly out of control straight into the Anaconda and get sandwiched between the 2. I know I'm done for so one last boost out fingers crossed I can live.
Yes! I make it out with 9% hull and begin to boost away leaving them in my smoke trails. 'Thrusters malfunctioned' 'shields offline' exclaims the computer. I begin to wildly spin and all I can see is the planets rings spinning in and out of view. Then the laser fire hits me. 'Thrusters offline'.
This is actually the end of me now. I'm ready to accept my fate watching the planet spin below me but then I have an idea. 'Silent running mode enabled' 'heat sink deployed'. They take the bait. Both enemies loose lock and are thrown off by my heat sink. Quickly i shutdown main power and take a deep breath before my O2 goes offline.
At 9% hull with no thrusters I wait in the dark at 5% heat listening to my breathing. I know what I must do and begin to open to menue to enable self destruct but then I see it!
In the functions menu on the right side panel there is a REBOOT/REPAIR option.
Diagnostic repair sequence initiated.
Power plant capacity exceeded.
Shields offline.
(The ship goes completely dark and a line of blue text scrolls across the console)
'THRUSTERS REPAIRED!'
I can't believe it. I'm alive and I can fly again. Whichever engineer installed this system when I was in the bathroom deserves a kiss I'm alive and so are all my combat bonds. I pinch myself to check I'm not dreaming then enter super cruise with 1% thrusters.

IN BRIEF
If any of your systems are reduced to 0% just click on REBOOT/REPAIR under FUNCTIONS on the right panel. It takes your whole ship offline for about 5 seconds and you have no shield until it recharges but it can be a saviour if you can get out of immediate danger.
