Newcomer / Intro Thrustmaster Hotas X and Windows 10 problem

My trusty 5 year old Hotas x was working perfectly on my old Windows 7 computer. That computer has recently died and a new PC with Windows 10 is sitting on my desk but it doesn't like my Hotas x, doesn't recognize it. Multiple installations and running the driver .exe file has not resolved the situation although sometimes it is recognised for a few minutes and then it's not again. So is the problem with my Thrustmaster, is it just at the end of it's life or has anyone had a similar experience moving up to Windows 10 and is there a fix? If I had to buy a new stick what is now recommended as a good, reasonably priced buy?

You might find it has something to do with the W10 power management of USB ports. I have never had the issue but I have seen it raised several times in the PC sub-forum, you might ask in there.

(My secondary PC has a Hotas-X connected, W10 sees it just fine - no drivers needed.)

I have to agree with Para, I did not have to load any drivers and I do not use the target software for this game. And I also have the older HOTAS Cougar setup as well. It could be the power setting on the USB ports, or the ports them self's, are you using USB Blue or Black ports for your HOTAS?

Blue USB ports on a brand new computer. Strange thing is HOTAS is recognised for a while and then it is not. New Win 10 drivers installed. Thinking the fault lie in the HOTAS itself rather than software although it worked flawlessly for 5 years on my old computer and the problem has only come to light when attaching to the new machine. Thinking of buying a new Thrustmaster and hopefully the problem will be resolved. Have tested other devices in the USB port and no problem with any of them.

Perhaps the USB ports on you new computer do not give enough power. Is there a (powered) usb hub you can connect to test? Did you try all the usb ports? Front and back?

Btw buying a new Thrustmaster does not solve the problem offcourse ;-)

At work atm but I feel pretty sure mine is connected to a USB 2.
Also, I suspect you know this already but if you "light up" the Xbox button on the joystick it changes the throttle slider to YAW just like twisting the joystick. Something I just cannot see a benefit for.
