I tried to find an option for the HOTAS in the controls area and didn't find anything.

Is there a setting to make the game recognize that?

Do I need still need to use the regular controller for other parts of the game?

Anywhere that shows what buttons on the HOTAS are mapped to already?

It should be listed in the drop-down menu at the top of the options -> controllers section.

If you don't see it, have you made sure to have the HOTAS plugged in and connected before starting the game? You should use the HOTAS to select and start the game from the main PS4 menu so ED will pick it up properly.

Ok I wasn't doing that for sure.

Do we still use the default ps4 controller anyway for things?

I haven't found a print out sheet of the default button set up for the HOTAS, but you can always check in the options>controls section of the menu.

WOW - another thread on how do i? with the HOTAS.

Lloyd - if you are watching / reading i would recommend that you post a screenshot sticky showing where this option is as clearly a bunch of us are missing it?
