Thrustmaster problem

I have got a Thrustmaster Hotas X and am having some unusual problems.
In normal flight, if I push the throttle all the way forward, the ship yaws to the left. Then, if I pull the throttle all the way back and reverse, the ship yaws to the right.
In both normal flight and supercruise, if I take my hand off the joystick, the ship veers left.
If I gently touch the joystick, without moving it, the ship goes back on course.
I have set up all the relevant 'dead' zones on the Controls screen and am otherwise completely happy with it.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing it and a solution?
My initial thoughts were that it is caused by my body static, but I don't quite see how i can avoid that!

Is it basically the twist/yaw that's behaving erratically? If so then it's a known fault with this stick, the wires to the twist sensor come unsoldered and loose over time. The good news is that if you know how to use a soldering iron then it's pretty easy to repair. Let me know if you want to know more and I can dig out the details later.

If you just bought it, assuming it works properly, than just choose the Hotas default and you should be fine. IF and when you develop issues or just want to reconfigure a button or two. Then use controller option, scroll down to what ever you wish to redo, when finished, scroll all the way down and make sure to save. I've utilized a thrustmaster hotas on both the ps4 and the xbox and now on the pc and with only two exceptions, utilize the default; Without any issue's until just recently when my stick twist which controls the yaw started acting up. I adjusted the dead zone and it helped, but not fixed the issue. Ordered a warthog, only one more month till arrival.

Yes, it is the yaw function that is acting up, but I don't understand why the throttle full forward or reverse settings should affect it. If you have got any instructions for dismantling the stick and resoldering the sensor, I would be very grateful.

I started to have a similar problem also. After months of playing, with only some minor movement twitches, it started, 18 Oct 2019. I have played just under four hundred hours. My problem is that I am always moving to the left as if I am twisting the joystick to the left. I have a Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS and I use it in VR mode play with an Oculas Riff. Using the Target application there shows no problem. I even went to the point of buying another Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS and still the same problem. The problem is not in the Thrustmaster but must be in the game. Spent the better part of the day working on this problem. Did a lot of reading and tried many things, all with no good results. Game is unplayable, I am hoping that it will fix itself. I tried many things in the Options to ED. Tried to re-configure the Trustmaster using the Target application. Tried using another USB port. Tried new Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS, this you know. Tried many more things. I will try to switch my USB ports next. If this fails, at some point, I will buy a Logitech joystick, LOL.

It is about a year old and, as I said in my OP, I have adjusted the 'dead' zones. My bindings for everything else are OK, it is just this weird yaw problem.

Yes please! These sticks are generally ok but there is a problem with this. It's not a big problem that can be rectified with the workaround you suggest, so, any info would be very gratefully appreciated. I'd like to use my HOTAS on the new PC account I have, although coming from a gamepad to a M&K control method has created a greater sense of emersion for me. M&K is very acceptable to me too but it would be a shame to waste the hardware presently gathering dust.

Not knowing what you may have reconfigured, I'd start by choosing the default, scroll down and save it. Once done renter and just scroll down to what ever you choose and change it to what ever is possible without changing something else. It would seem that you may have reconfigured something that altered your throttle normal config. IF and when you can't remember exactly what you have or haven't reconfigured. The best thing is to start anew and choose the hotas default. Personally because I only alter two items, it's a fast process.

I watched a video of a guy who took his stick apart carefully and the yaw control which appear to be inserted into a plastic tube of sorts which is supposed to remain stationary, wasn't. Utilizing the available alignment program which is free from Thrustmaster buy must be utilized on a pc. He carefully realigned the yaw by moving the little wired piece which in stuck inside the top of the plastic tube and put a wee dab of glue to keep it where it suppose to be.

I've not attempted to do it because I chose to purchase a warthog.

If that HOTAS is older than ~2 months and saw regular use, it's quite normal for it to act up.
Especially on its prime failure point : the stick twist, caused by mechanical wiring failure due to poor design.

To confirm it's not a Software Setting, just manually execute "Joy.cpl" from the Start Menu (the Windows Default config tool), there check the Info on the Inputs.
Any erroneous Signals from the HOTAS should be very easy to detect there - indicating Hardware Failure.

The Thrustmaster HOTAS X was designed for the PC and the PlayStation 3. The T.Flight HOTAS 4 works with the PC and the PlayStation 4. Maybe there is a difference but I have no clue. Just something to check out.

Follow this other thread from around the linked post (my response) onwards (there's images of the inside of the stick and what you need to resolder a bit further on).

Everything fixed. Mixed my USB ports around and did a re-celebration and everything is working OK.

I understand re-calibrate but could you explain just what you did to your USB's; I'm will to try anything.
I have three types of ports, 1.0 ( black ), 2.0 ( blue ) and 3.0 ( red ). I put my keyboard and mouse, older types 1.0, I put Oculas Riff and Thrustmaster on 2.0 and 3.0. Had to play with these ones to make everything work right. Many tries and reboots. Hard to say what went where because I tie wrapped it all together now. Went into the game and no more left side movement.

Thanks for the reply, I've already done pretty much the same thing. Didn't work, ordered a Warthog, should be CONSIDERABLY better.

To update the problem. I placed a warranty claim, as I had only had the joystick for eight months, and the warranty is for one year. They replaced it with a new one. Everything now is working perfectly.

I've had 2 replaced by Thrustmaster with similar issues, 3rd one will be soon as I have needed to adjust the deadzone 4 times now. And that will be one of the replacements within the 2 year warranty we get here

I think we are seeing a pattern here. I started, after just a month with this new one, that there are signs that it is coming back. I think it might be time to think about another make, like the Logitech. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for all the replies.
I initially had the Hotas connected in a 4-way USB block, one of whose ports was connected to an external hard-drive.
I took it out of there and gave it it's own dedicated port, and the problem did seem to go away, but only for a couple of days, then it was back as before.
So I tried another route and disabled the twist-grip yaw settings on the Controls panel.
I changed a few settings and had the yaw set up on the throttle rocker switch.
The yaw 'drift' problem disappeared permanently, as expected.
I didn't really like that way of doing things, so I swapped back to the standard yaw control on the stick twist and surprisingly, and touch wood, the problem has not reoccurred.
I don't have a definitive answer, but it appears that altering the control settings and re-saving them has straightened things out.
But thanks for all your help anyway.
