Newcomer / Intro Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas: buttons work, throttle and joystick does not.

Help, please.
Running Elite Dangerous on XBox One using Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas: buttons work, throttle and joystick do not.
This is the second T-flight stick I've tried with the same problem so not likely to be the HOTAS.
The switch is set to XBox the original controller is switched off.
The game runs fine using the original XBox controller.

Hopefully thanks in advance.

Have you tried switching the control layout to T-flight HOTAS? ;)

There is a selection of controllers on the top of Controls options. You have to plug the HOTAS prior to starting the game and then switch in the options.

The joystick is analogue. You might have to add the joystick axes to the bindings file.
When I started I put it in the wrong box.

Run the TARGET GUI software first.
Run Elite and go into Options>Control
Check that it's chosen the Custom setting from the drop down menu.
Which is basically what Chris said.

Then check that the joystick bindings are set for analogue. It should look something like this:

Note the highlighted box and the message - arrowed.

Check Yaw (if you use it), Roll and Pitch.

"Run the TARGET GUI software first."

Sorry if this is a daft question but how do you do that on an XBox one?
