Horizons Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X - SRV supported - starter keymap / bind file

As I've not seen anyone actually upload a bind file yet for Horizons, here's mine.
The base mapping is based on the one by CMDR Smacker, but with some modifications of my own (additional mappings using button 8 on the throttle as another modifier).

Then for the SRV, I've mapped out the functions I've needed to use so far.

I've not tried this for combat yet, as this bind was created during the Horizons beta, and I haven't played since (yet).

I also have a visual map (based on the original Google Doc provided with CMDR Smacker's original keymap) that I've updated.

The file can be placed in a path like so (my path on Win10), and accessed as it's own bind map in your mapping dropdown in-game:
C:\Users\jon\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\

Bind file (hosted on Dropbox): https://www.dropbox.com/s/b0ninfzr9xi5ivf/TMHotasXModsSM.1.8.binds?dl=0
Visual map of binds (Google Drawing): https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1gf4i3b53Lhw8sYGeuKweYXyeCsKyu-8GbSImKw19OcI/edit?usp=sharing

In creating the visual map, I realize now I could likely use the same Lights button (from the ship) for the SRV as well. When I make that change, I'll update this thread to reflect.

Cheers

Thx alot for sharing this ! I love the new Modifier 8+1 etc since i was used to the old one based on Smacker.
Well done mate , its a very useful update.

Thank you for the file, I have downloaded it but can't find where to put it within the Frontier file.
I can't follow the path that you set, Windows8_OC(C:) I am using Windows 10

So obviously you'd replace "jon" in the path, with your own username folder in Windows.
Also, the AppData folder itself is typically hidden in Windows, so you may need to unhide it (or else just input the full path to the Bindings folder, and hit Enter, which will allow you to bypass the need to unhide AppData).

This looks great! well done!
i'd use it myself if i wouldn't had to get used to it for 6 months. i'd probably crash my anaconda in the first star i'll scoop :p

Sorry if I sound a bit thick but do you just copy and paste your file into custom presets 1.8 or the custom file.
I thought modding Silent Hunter was bad enough but I am now quite good at it.
It could just be an age thing.

missed your question, just dropping the file into the path I specified (specific to your own computer) should be sufficient. You can then select the preset in game.

Recently purchased a T Flight Hotas X. While I'm fine with mapping it myself. I found your keymap / bind file and wanted to try it out. Followed the guide to get it set up and what not. While it is within the pull down menu to select as a preset bind. It still won't work and is blank from what I can tell. What excatly should I do? I'm not certain what I've done wrong in setting it up. Is it due to the fact that its out of date with recent updates or something. I've just started playing. So, I'm a little behind in that kind of stuff.

It should work mate ! i use the binding (the smacker original) since the beta days and now this updated srv version which works pretty well.Did u rename it to Custom.bind? Well just did a quick check and under Control its still set as Custom.

If I recall, I used one button as a "shift" to give loads of the other buttons a second function/use?

Thank you Intel 352 for posting this. I started playing Elite on the XBONE about 3 months ago and decided I want to upgrade to PC and get a HOTAS. These bindings helped me out immensely. I was spending my first days doing nothing but setting up bindings and I was just not making good progress with it. I would try out something then unmapp it and try something else. The bindings provided here gave me a great baseline to start with and make my own tweaks to. The idea of using the face buttons on the throttle as a modifier for other abilities was the key to success for me.
My only complaint ( and I think that is a fault of the firmware for the HOTAS) is that once a button is bound as a modifier for other abilities, you can no longer map that button by itself as its own stand alone function. For example, if you bound something to button 6+POV UP, you can no longer have any function for button 6 because it will trigger the effect on said button as soon as you touch it. Even with context menus on.
(BTW I'm on a Thustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4, basically the exact same HOTAS just newer and with SLIGHTLY different button placements.)

If you look on the legend, you see that Blue (Flight) is button 5 and Hyper/Super Combo is Blue + 3.
So you press button 5 + button 3 for Hyper/Super Combo.

The hyper/super combo is the button that activates either Supercruise or a Hyperspace jump, depending weather or not you have another star system selected.
If you have a you have a target in system selected it will toggle supercruise but, if you have a neighboring star system selected, it will activate the "hyperdrive"
