Hardware & Technical Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X stick repair - viable?

I'm currently on my second T.Flight X (first one lasted approx 2 years, this one has suddenly started playing up after around 15 months). In both cases, the problem is related to the twist action on the stick. First one gave out completely (stick twists freely, no spring feedback), whereas the second feels OK, but is anything but, and appears to be getting worse:

  • Ship entered a continuous roll with stick centered (with flight assist on)
  • Twist action feels more responsive on one side rather than the other
  • Pulling up to face an attacker failed completely
  • Re-calibrating in Windows doesn't appear to have sorted it

I know it's a budget stick and you get what you pay for, I'm simply asking if anyone out there has experience with repairs to the stick side of the unit (primarily, the twist action). Worth taking to bits to try a repair, or time to give it best and save up for a more solid HOTAS? What's the current recommendation for E: D? I'd prefer twist on the stick instead of pedals as space is at a bit of a premium.

Thanks

IIRC you can disable the stick twist & use the rocker switch on the throttle for that function (usually Yaw, but YMMV).
