Thumbs Up for CQC

Spent a couple of hours the other day in CQC. (Finally got into a matched game)

Pretty fun if you haven't tried it. Very good pew pew. Spent a couple of hours getting my "asp" handed to me...

Not something I normally do, but worth a look if you haven't given it a go...

(Just a public service announcement)

Ye I tried it few times LONG time ago, if you can find other ppl playing it is a good fun I must say. Sadly lately it is almost impossible for me to find anybody playing.

(Finally got into a matched game)
and therein lies the problem for me.
i had some fun there when cqc first came out. But the last few times I tried, it was ridiculous wait times for a match.
The best part is when you finally get into a match, and while waiting for a few more to join, people start dropping.

Maybe I'm impatient, but for this game mode to work, I need to be able to get into a match like you can for any mainstream FPS game. select...load...go

oh, and while I'm here, I'd like to take another whack at the "can we please supplement with bots?" dead horse.

I've tried to go in a few times before and also got bored waiting. This time I got a match (Solo Deathmatch) in only a couple of minutes. Once we started playing, the group seemed to hang around. I left after 10 or so matches...

The maps are very good and the flying is very tight and favors the small, quick ships that are provided.

Now don't go and spoil the CQC hatred in the forums, we can't have that. CQC is the devil, can't have anyone praising it, now go sit in the corner and spank yourself for having positive thoughts about CQC.

Has the idea of an in game arena been touted before? Say a special system and station where players can sign up to fights? There could be a leaderboard, battles for ship type, rank, etc. Rather than having a separate thing to play in? Players could wager items and there could be championship battles arranged and advertised on Galnet, multi player / faction / wing battles, etc. You could also have spectators as well or a video feed from the station that players could watch in game on those long journeys!

Usually, on PC, you can find deathmatches running at 6 pm GMT on weekdays and sometimes much earlier during weekends. The most efficient way to find a game quickly is by joining the discord CQC channel.

I play nearly every evening and often at weekends. A good bunch of players and often some 'edge of the seat' gameplay when conditions are right.
