Thurstmaster Hotas 4

Is there any extras I need to do to set this up? I've tried the training and no buttons seem to be working. Sorry, new to the thrustmaster game.

Startup PS4 with normal DS4 controller, plug in HOTAS, turn off (disable) DS4 controller, hit the PS button on HOTAS to turn it on and have the PS4 recognize it, then navigate to and start ED. Everything should work from there.

I only had time to play with it once last night, but this worked for me. There's probably a better way of doing it though.

As a real nooby, one who hasn't ever played on any plateform. I found that the hotas must be plugged in prior to starting the ps4. I made the mistake of plugging the hotas after the ps4 had started and the ds4 was in control. When I restarted the ps4 with the hotas already plugged in, the hotas was in control. Though my ds4 is still conected I haven't tried to use it in conjuntion with the hotas.

It has taken me 2hours so far to finish the first two lessons, but I did it with out any crashes. Another couple of weeks practicing should get it down to a more fesible time. My first attempt was with the ds4, nothing but crashing and spinning and generally out of control. After installing the hotas, though I am slow, I have control. Recon it's my previous real piloting skills useing a stick that made the difference.

I know one can configure the various buttons to do what one wants, but untill I learn, I'm just gonna use the default settings.

You can leave the DS4 connected to the PS4, just start the game using the HOTAS controls instead once you've connected it. I've DS4, HOTAS and keyboard all connected while playing ED and as long as I start the game with the HOTAS it's all fine.

Agree, like you state the hotas HAS to be plug in prior to start of Game.

yeah - but have you tried using the galaxy map with the DS4 if you are using a HOTAS - DONT it wont work.

And yeah - not mentioned but you need to hold down the square button for vertical movements in the galaxy map - took me a while to figure that out.

This works for me. My DS4 can still be used to input typed messages and navigate the galaxy map (swipe, pinch, etc.). I do not turn off my DS4, and I have no problems connecting my HOTAS.
