General Tier A Hangars

Something I think a lot of people, including myself, want is a hangar that allows you to store a normal small ship inside your larger ships.
For balancing purposes, you would probably only be able to have one small ship in total, and if it gets destroyed, you would have to pay the insurance cost or abandon the ship, just like you already have to do with normal ships

This is just my speculation, but I think they wanted to add that in game but it proved to be too challenging with the resources they had. They did the less ambitious SLFs instead and now there's also the mobile base FCs, which are kinda like that.
 
All I want is the SLF being able to land and me being able to disembark. If you decide to fly the fighter yourself, you physically do so. Get destroyed, and the same rules apply as getting destroyed while inside the SRV. Crew members still do remote control, and so do you if, and only if you swap control with your crew. In remote mode landing is still possible, disembarking obviously disabled.

Well evidence to date suggests that only 20% agree.

Way back when they were developing the game it was thought that the Anaconda could carry a Sidewinder or non jump capable version of one, this concept was dropped before testing started possibly due to code nesting/loop issues as both items are ships. I could be wrong about the reason but the idea was dumped a decade ago.
 
I don't think it was dumped that quickly, it hung around for a bit. Anyway the problem was they didn't want to deal with nesting ships. Whether they meant as physical objects in the game or as a data issue, who knows.
