Time for a Jameson Memorial makeover?

Probably the most famous and most frequented starport in the bubble, Jameson Memorial took sort of the short straw with regards to its design. Even when the new starport interior designs were added, it never received any of that love. I suggest it should get a makeover:

  • A large habitat ring. They evoke that classic scifi feeling, and imo far too few starports have one.
  • Give it this beautiful futuristic interior design:
  • For extra effect, move the station into a lower orbit (via retcon). Stations in low orbit above Earth-Like Worlds are spectacular yet exceedingly rare.

Wish they would move more stations to a lower Orbit. Thankfully quite a few of these new CQC structures I've found in Beta are in low orbit of some stunning planets.

Regarding Jameson, I kinda like the fact that it has the old school interior. Would prefer it stays the same, or get's it's own unique interior.

Low orbit stations are almost as bad as surface ports.
Pretty, but it’s inconvenient to hike down a gravity well.

And that hi tech station interior looks like some dodgy nightclub scene from a matrix sequel.

I'd say before the Pilots Federation is to invest into cosmetic changes, they'd better invest in System Security and revoke a few Permits ;)

Lawless Systems like Shinrarta Dezhra permanently housing and servicing Criminals don't deserve shiny Stations.
IMHO Jamesons Memorial should be given a rust (Raider Pack?) makeover, bullet holes, flickering/failed lights etc. And a few nearby unauthorized/Anarchy Installations for added realism.

Would fit this System much much better.
(arguably, the same could be done with SOL)

Theres always the faint smell of wee in Jamesons. You dont need grav boots as your feet stick to the carpets and theres always only one table tennis bat.

Yea, a run down station, and yet it offers all ships and modules known to man. Makes sense. :)

I still vividly remember the sense of disappointment when after finally making Elite status I headed to the famed starport, expecting 'something' and was left quite nonplussed about the entire thing. Not sure what I was expecting to see, just not a rather mundane, shabby looking station that looked exactly like every other shabby mundane station in the galaxy.

Even if they put a holographic statue of the famous Commander the station is named after would be an improvement - just something to make it stand out from the rest would be a bonus!

Yes, it should look like this:

Would be great.

I really like this 70's/80's sci-fi design anyway.

You're correct, I'd personally make the Station offer nothing but minimal services, E-Grade Equipment, a Sidey and a Hauler and C1 fixed Pulse Lasers.
Just to mirror its "failed State" condition and being overrun by Terrorists since years, all while the incompetent Pilots Federation never even lifted a finger.

Somehow it belongs into the hands of the Dark Wheel and the entire System should be Anarchy.
At least the Dark Wheel are known to be exceedingly wealthy Anarchy, hence its premium Equipment and Discounts could be retained that way.
Then things made much more sense in our otherwise bizarre "Civilization" ;)

I don't think it should be a white or wealthy station. I think the Pilot's Federation just wants a businesslike, effective home.

However, the idea of it being one of the old dodecahedron (as opposed to the cuboctahedron Coriolis) stations sits well with me.

The internal style proposed is the futuristy-yet-functional one, not the everything-is-white one.

And yeah, I think you guys have convinced me that more appropriate would be a Coriolis-style exterior.
