Time for Outrage! An insult to explorers and their work?! Why does the UC delete or hides our Surface Scan Data?
As the border coalition grows, some others and I from CI planned to fill the holes the early explorers seemed to have left in a blaze of glory. At first it seemed they only wanted to get the first discovery, ignoring potential economical interest of resources and expansion in exchange for short term fame.
It turns out the pioneers and early colonists were wrongly framed, in fact they might, no surely HAVE done a FINE job, but history decided to laugh at them, turning their efforts blank and hiding them from us. As the UC did to those that came after them and now they did to us. Our great survey was turned to a mockery when we found out that we had the SS-Data individually, but after our comrades sold it, we could buy a system upgrade from the UC, but ONLY the basic info of the system, despite us and our comrades selling the SS-Data to the UC. Further inquiries were left unanswered. They said this is all they got. We know better!
Is this some kind of UC conspiracy to hide potential wealth and expansion targets? A plot of the elite to harness the wealth of the universe themselves for the few credits they threw at us, mocking our hard work? Exploration was never about money, we did so to find the unknown or to help our people to strike out into the void. Yet once again money seems to have stolen our right and our efforts from us. What gives them the right to do so?!
We the people and explorers of the border, of the core and of the void, we need to demand this injustice to be changed immediately! The UC spits on our efforts to cartograph the stars, to find the best sources for our local economies to grow and to find worlds beyond imagination. Not only did the quarrel of the major powers cripple humanities grasp for the stars, now the shadowy system called the UC even dares to cripple our knowledge, stealing our light in the dark.
Sharing these marvels with our friends, families and all the people of the milky way is our right, our future, and now it is threatened to be lost for some shadowy profit. The sad truth is, we aren't even FORBIDDEN to share it, forced by some power to comply we can fight. No, that we could undermine. We can't! The UC deletes your data, comrades. It hides all our work from the people. This has to end!
Information is to be shared, and those hiding the truth for their own self interest have to be forced to yield to the peoples demand or be replaced in the wake of change. If the UC isn't willing to respect the explorers, we might just need a new and independant agency to store the data. We need competition! The monopoly that is openly abused can not continue. The capital itself promoted the idea, yet the UC is without equal. If they aren't someone willing to share it with all the people, without hiding anything, they can not be tolerated any longer. If the industry doesn't fix it, WE, the PEOPLE need ot step in! The truth is out there, we, the explorers, have seen it. And I will not stand for the UC to hide our achievements any longer!
Stand up for your RIGHTS, explorers, stand up for your ACHIEVEMENTS, explorers and, stand up for your HONOR, explorers. You did the WORK, we all did the WORK and no one, UC or otherwise, has the right to make the world BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T!

TLDR; OOC Version:
It is actually quite simple - although done with an overly big RP accent by me up there. The UC does pay you for SS-data (Surface Scans with the Detailed Scanner) but if someone wants to buy it in the 20 ly radius to use it to find a gas giant with the right ring-type etc. they will have to get the info themselves with their own scanner. The UC does not sell the data back. Only basic scan data is sold in the galaxy map. That way it seems like the explorers have been awfully lazy since the data even if paid for is always incomplete. Thus the TGS was started (The Great Survey). Yet the UC told us off, saying the data our comrades sold did not exist to buy. Liars!
That's why the recent update to EDDB is helpful. They now allow us to write the SS-data down so all can access it. Without being ripped off by the UC holding it back for some Bigco Mining corporation.
