time from Hostile to neutral.......

anyone know about how many deliver/pickup missions I need to go from Federation Hostile to neutral? It seems to be taking forever and I am not making much progress as far as I can see.

I think you're in for a LOOOONG grind if you want to get back to neutral. No idea how long, but if you're committed, you can do it. If it's too much, you can always come to Empire space. I hear Achenar is nice this time of year.

Took me almost a week and countless missions. The good thing though was that as soon as I got Neutral, Naval progression missions were appearing without any delay one after another.

I somehow managed to be promoted to Cadet when still staying hostile, but as soon as Neutral status was achieved, I almost immediately got promoted to Warrant Officer. Looks like Federation status blocks promotion, but all hard work is still counted.

I assume that is a week of playing time. wow that is a lot. :/ not sure I have gthe patience for that. speant about 10-12 hrs so far and not there yet. um..where can I check my actual progress? I go to right panel and see Hostille but can't seem to find a percentage or number to tell how close I am or am not.

A few real life days of 2-3-4 hours I'd estimate. I did not immediately started to recover my Federal reputation, I enjoyed it for a day or two but then decided that it makes sense to be nice with every major faction before Powerplay starts.

I tried to sell exploration data and bonds, but I think the most of progress started when I found some small Federal stations near Empire space (so nobody will fire at me there), and started to make missions for them. Stations became green soon enough, but Federation as a whole took a while.

No idea if it was the best way, but it worked.

bah humbug. 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. I don't see this ever getting done. yes I know I am whining but for something that happened in unexplained way there should be a reasonable way to get out of it. sigh. ok done whining but still bugged. :)

You might do better boutny hunting if you can stay away from the security forces. In my mind, it would be nice if there was a rep "atrophy" where if you didn't do anything to aggravate your rep it will go back up on its own after a while, likewise if you dont do anything active to keep it up it should go down.

I still can not find a display or something to monitor my progress from hostile to neutral. what am I missing or is there no way t o tell?

does no one have any info on this? It seems as though I am making no progress. does no one have any info on t his?..please??

I don't think there is a way of knowing exactly where you are at.

Try switching between activities missions, handing in big bounty/bonds if you have a decent combat ship. etc.
Good luck :-/

Devs posted a long time ago that it's much easier to lose rep than to gain it, and hard to go from hostile back to neutral. This is done on purpose to reflect the real world - the logic is that it's a lot easier to upset someone than to please them, and harder to get back in their good books once you've upset them.

There is no integral indicator but you can (and probably should) see an arrow up or down after each mission or other actions. Also, separate stations should quickly enough change status from hostile to at least unfriendly.

You should also pay attention to which faction you are doing missions for - not all minor factions on federal station are federals themselves. Becoming friendly with local mafia or separatists won't advance your federal status.

ok that makes sense. I really don't know who I have been doing stuff for I guess. I am in a system that has federal presence but... I have t aken missions for delivery to federal system station but that ends in destroyed ship. bottom line I guess is I don't really know what I am doing. anyhow, thx for the info even if I am not sure what to do with it. I have been working on missions for a week now, or almost. it looks like I will run out of patience before I succeed. my fault no one elses even though I think turning hostile after one illeg al rare is a bit harsh. game does what it w ants. hard to keep from qujitting with no progress though. ---whine off--- anyway will either gain progress or quit in next few days. will have to see

I found it was quicker to RES grind and hand in bounties. My rep with the Feds went from unfriendly, where it had been forever, to allied in no time.

well I can get a fighting ship and try t hat. not much good at combat but can try I guess. any suggestions for ship and setup? like I said I don't normally do combat so no idea and do you mean just killing ships there or what? do I need a scanner or what?

You need to kill right ships. You do not need Kill Warrant Scanner if you are only killing ships with WANTED status in a Federal system. KWS will increase your payout because a bad guy can have multiple bounties, but I don't think it will additionally improve your reputation with system owner. There is a danger in combat though - if you occasionally hit Federal vessel, it will negatively affect your reputation.

Personally I did not notice that bounty hunting was very good way to improve rep comparing to missions.

Also, I would not care that much about negative rep with Feds. I liked it from role-playing perspective. I just decided it is not a good idea to keep this reputation before Powerplay. Then again, if you join one of Powers, I doubt it will be possible to be friendly with everybody anyway.

Depends on how much cash you have to spend, a high spec Viper could be yours for under 5 Mil credits, definitely get a kill warrant scanner as you will be cheating yourself out of loads of extra credits if you skimp on it. If you have up to 20 Mil credits you can get yourself a really sweet Vulture, you don't even need to be good at combat in one of those (I should know).

Only go for wanted ships and you might want to take note of what faction they are, but I didn't I just killed anything criminal and my rep went up really quickly.

The other important thing to remember is to spread your efforts around, so don't put all your effort into one system or one minor faction. In my efforts to go from hostile to unfriendly, I found that switching systems made a big difference to my progress. Still haven't got back to neutral, but then, I left Fed space a soon as I regained unfriendly - I didn't want them to like me, I just didn't want them shooting at me!

any chance you would share your vulture setup? also do I need to disable flight assist to actually do combat? as I said before I do not and have not done much combat at all. I suck at it big time so any advise would be helpful especially a setup
