Astronomy / Space Time Lapse Shows 9 Months of Curiosity's Mars Mission in 1 Minute

And we learn that life has existed on Mars. A link in the article that accompanies the video.

"After breaking down and analyzing the powder, the scientists found the rock contains sulfur, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and carbon - all essential chemical ingredients for life".

Ingredients does not equal having the thing! There is still no solid evidence that Mars ever supported life, though it does seem fairly likely that it would have had basic life at some point in the very distant past.

YES ! --- The 1.8-inch-wide scoop of powdered rock revealed that ancient Mars could have supported living microbes.

"We have found a habitable environment that is so benign and supportive of life that, if this water had been around and you had been on the planet, you would have been able to drink it," said John Grotzinger, Curiosity project scientist.
