Time to explore

turn off shields and distributor, they're not needed in cruise.

I used to do this, but I kept forgetting to turn them back on when I landed. For an Asp, the additional heat generated by the power draw of a shield generator (I run an undersized one) doesn't seem to make much difference, and the added insurance of protecting the ship from the nut in the chair is worth it, in my opinion.

Sure. To each his own. Everyone has to have a routine that fits him/herself.

So far, knock on wood, I haven't forgotten... yet.

I like to do a grade 1 low emissions on my 2A pp to get the weight reduction secondary effect, and it still leaves me with enough power.

Yeah, this is a very good strategy, IMHO. The G1 low emissions roll is cheap too (it only uses iron), so it's easy to keep re-rolling it until it gives you a mass reduction secondary. The 2A leaves you with a tight power budget, but it's still enough to run everything when you need it. I did something similar.

I would totally forget too, almost every time. I often forget to turn on the SRV hangar until I try to deploy first.

Infinite Sadness.

The 6C is significantly cheaper than a 6A, uses a non-negligible amount less power, and will refill one max jump worth of fuel in roughly 8 seconds.

2 max jumps worth of fuel in roughly 16 seconds.

3 max jumps worth of fuel in, you guessed it, roughly 24 seconds.

You absolutely are not leaving the system in less than 20 seconds.

Take that information however you want.
