Modes Time to get clarification questions in

It is kinda funny for Fdev to starting discussion on minor functionality before discussing or at least outlining their purpose.

Well, at first Frontier didn't want any guild type system at all.
So for them to cave in and start work on one is quite the surprise.
But the issue for them will be, they didn't see the need for guild mechanics.
So they don't know exactly what to do with them now they are making them.

And just like the DDA process, they are asking the community for ides / suggestions.

But I don't suppose you'll be making any suggests yourself, after all - you've spent a week insulting this "communism" type development.

The guys on the live stream made is clear that they were going to be talking about the issues as the feature branches out. Right now, they need to talk about the basic elements of the mechanics. It appears that what we want to talk about is more important that the process. Offer the appropriate comments and suggestions on the current subject matter to best facilitate FD'd process. Which is to create a Feature that fits our needs, as well as their's.

It is also clear that FD want to male [make] Squadrons a tool used to put players in touch with other players. That message was emphasized a number of times throughout the live stream. The two of them said over and over that Squadrons is intended to help us organize all the stuff we do now, and make doing more stuffs easier. So if peeps are wandering around trying to figure out what FD's intentions are for Squadrons. Watch the live stream, they make it pretty clear what they intend.

The problem is

(i) We dont yet know how carriers will interact with game mechanics.
(ii) If they do what's to stop a single player group of 10 people starting their own individual wings to get the carrier benefit each, giving them potentially ten times the edge?

What edge? Do we expect these carriers to have any use in combat? I'd consider that unlikely and actually I hope they won't. It would be nice to have a new feature that's not for blowing stuff up.
