I'm confused, who are these murderhobos?

Thank you for asking.

The term dates back to the birth of space travel many hundreds of years ago.
The initial meaning was as an acronym: Homeless Organized Barvarian OperativeS
It was a reference to gangs of thugs who used to engage in petty crime in the lawless sectors of the galaxy.

As the group grew it became more violent, and at the same time became inclusive of many nationalities so the Barvarian was dropped for Barbaric . I applaud the inclusive nature of the group, because equality matters, it is too bad that they became more violent. On the Karmic scale I feel as if the whole thing may be a wash.

Anyways, as time progressed they started to become quite wealthy, because regardless of what anyone says, crime does pay.
It was at this point the Homeless was dropped for Honorless.
The last official definition of the term was then: Honorless Organized Barbaric OperativeS

Typical behavior of these folks would be to destroy a small ship at the dock and to pretend it was an accident.
They also like to color their hair and wear sunglasses.

I currently wouldn't put too much stock in that definition because most of the young people here don't use it as an acronym, instead thinking that it just refers to a typical hobo, which is why the 'murder' was added as a prefix, being completely unnecessary if someone understands the history of the term.

I never murderhobo'd anyone, except that one unfortunate Asp which I ran over in my T9 in the mailslot - and I apologized, so that doesn't count :x

You should try it sometime. It's actually quite fun.

I'm tempted sometimes, sure, and I'm not averse to PvP, but I don't want to ruin other people's fun.
Call that my White Knight side.

Bah before long you will be so bored you will decide to try it. Used to be a white knight back in the day, then I realized being the bad guy is more fun!

Please don't use a thread dedicated to punishing murder hobos as a recruitment tool for murder hobos.
Thanks.

Zarek's biggest fan and favorite is back! You must be lonely without us Feros. Wargie can't kill you if he's on PC though, can he?
He'll have to leave that honor to me! *evil grin*

I don't want to "punish" murder-hobos, but the game should make it such that once that path is taken a ship cannot stay in a star-system with even minimal security without an ever-escalating series of attacks from authority ships. This would bring Elite Dangerous into line with the original game, make being a murder-hobo a dangerous cat-n-mouse exercise and make non-anarchy systems safe for the majority to play in OPEN making the game better for all.

This demands introduction gameplay mechanics for outlaws. Some kind of ladder (similar to auxiliary navy ranks) that would grant you access to such things as ship ID change, undercover hidden in asteroid belts stations for in-pace refit/repair, and other.

By the way, where is my carrier ship? We were promised one by the end of last year!
