Timeline for transfer to PC

Hallo. I want to play Odissey, but I will not have a gaming PC at least for some month.
Is there a time limit to make the transfer from Xbox to PC?

Thanks a lot

There is currently no end date defined for the transfer mechanism, all Frontier say is that they will give plenty of notice before they withdraw the service.

You don't need a PC to make the transfer. The account will be waiting for you when you have one. The only caveat is any more progress you make on xbox will not be transferred.

I took the transfer from PS to PC in Early October - went live 15 September - letting them iron out any bugs first.
I didn't use the new account as only had old laptop, but I requested transfer on computer at work and it took just about 15 minutes on 1Gb/s network - emails kept me uptodate with each step.
I tried to log in on work laptop but their security/firewall stopped me running it.
When I got home logged in to Epic account linked to Frontier and it started syncing the game.
Went out as it said on progress bar was expected to take over 2 hours.
Came home, tried to fire it up but of course old laptop wouldn't even load ED Base Game.
Found out about GeForce Now and tried that on laptop - created Nvidia account and it bloody worked.
Couldn't do much though as controller was only basic controls (NOT fully functional DS4) with keyboard and mouse.
Left it in that state, as can you, until you get a good gaming rig or Geforce Now (runs on Edge on XBox apparently).
Just this weekend tried mapping controller buttons to match PS controller (it is tedious) after reading others experience and got a new Nvidia Sheild TV Pro to run and can even run EDH4.0.
The Shield TV Pro cost £180 instead of £2000-£3000 for an adequate gaming rig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geforce Now is free to try out but you can Q for several minutes to hours for a game depending on number of players, so I am using Premium service at £9/month!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking of going this route too - did you get your DS4 controller working on the Shield TV/Geforce Now combo?

The transfer time where you are locked out of xbox account was 10m for me, its all automated.

You can do the transfer now and start playing back on xbox while you wait for your PC.

Got DS4 working (to an extent) - the four position touchpad doesn't work and so had to map the bottom left to [Triangle] + left, bottom right to [Triangle] right etc, etc.
Going through controls one at a time as I need them. Started with Flight/combat controls, boost, FSD etc, then mining, then Fire groups......

Thinking of getting the Shield Controller when it is back in stock to see what that is like (£59 but out of stock last time I looked)
If this works for even 80% of the controller commands + a few keyboard keys then I will be happy as still cheaper than any gaming PC.

PS, the Nvidia Geforce Now Priority is absolutely worth it (after a free trial for you to try out and see it working) as it goes straight into game for 6 hour sessions.
With the free option you can Q for minutes to over an hour at peak times (seen 295 players ahead of me once) for a mere 1 hour session then login again.

Agree. It should be there waiting for you in 1 year - you will have email records of the transfer, the account and your selected Cmdr Name.
You can have the same or different Cmdr name to console Cmdr, I chose a different one and also now have 2 Fleet Carriers as I didn't decommission mine on PS - Win/Win.

Thanks for the advice - took the plunge and my Shield TV Pro is arriving today.

Also, no need for a gaming PC, just a steam account, GeForce Now and a decent internet connection.
I completed the process, also if it took me some time in understanding how to connect properly the frontier account with the Steam account with the GeForce now Account. But in the end, my commander was there!

Only, now, I need to figure out the controls.
My Xbox controller gets recognized, but I need to set up the bindings one by one.

Also, I am not understanding how to navigate the basic UI when docked. I tried all the keys I had on the keyboard, but I wasn't able to activate the "launch" and "go to starport facilities" buttons!

Anybody's got some suggestion?

Took me about 2 weeks on and off, firing up PS to find keys/buttons necessary for a function like 'Cargo Scoop' and switching to NVidia and mapping that key press.
Tedious but worth it as I hate keyboard/mouse.
Note I also write them down old school style in case you start up Nvidia without the controller or it loses bindings, etc.

"Default Context" was what I used when I moved to PC from Xbox all those years ago.

It matches, button for button, the default Xbox controller setup.

@Zeus Cubed, if you haven't done the console->PC copy yet you may want to do that in the next few days - Frontier have just announced they are going to disable the transfer process when update 14 drops on 29th November. Frontier say they intend to bring the console copy back next year, but it will not be the same process - some sort of simplified version that will only copy the very basics across.

PS If Zeus Cubed and Zeus Cubed3 are the same person please ignore :) I should really read the intervening comments before I hit reply....

Yes, copy that.
Anyone not done the copy yet, DO IT NOW!!
It will be there waiting for you even if you still play on console for now.

(I can only re-iterate as on above posts, you don't even need an expensive gaming PC, I use Geforce Now with Shield TV direct to HDMI TV)
I even run Geforce Now on my old laptop (2016) when away from home!

Yep this will now force those that have not done a copy to do so...

This could mean that No body actualy was bothering as the unlimited no dead line means theres no requirement to do a copy yet..
So the systems been sat there doing virtualy nothing as no body was doing any copy to PC account ...

The inactivity for the server system would cost fdev money...
Adding a deadline will push people to copy accounts...

Theres no Requirement to use the PC account at all even with the copy done...
The copy to account can sit there inactive...

I did my transfer today, it was quick and painless. However, setting up an Nvidia GFN account is anything but. I can't get past the Captcha check, despite being human apparently. If I see another ladybug or banana on a plate I'll start having nightmares. I don't even like bananas!
Did you get this working in the end? I did a rush transfer for GFN too last week, I think I ended up linking everything to everything else in the GFN, Frontier, Steam and Epic portals.
