Timescales for Crime & Punishment aka Karma?

Just seen a video posted on one of the Facebook of a PC commander deliberately ramming a Type-10 with a eagle and blowing up, causing the station to open fire and destroy the type-10.
He is callously calling out what he is going to do to his wingman and then gloating when the type-10 is destroyed.

I know he actively posts on these forums under the guise of a member of the SDC, legitimising such behaviour as PvP.

The revamp to crime and punishment can’t come soon enough for this lowlife who gets off on causing other Commanders misery. His sort of ‘gameplay’ ruins it for everyone who wants to play in the spirit that Frontier intended.

How long do we have to wait for C&P, and in particular Karma?

Side note? Don't speed. If people speed, there are consequences. Demanding consequences for others, then refusing to accept in return, is very ordinary and completely destroys any point being made.

I have no love for station rammers; but the implicit bias that is demanding consequences for all but oneself, ie "the rules don't apply to me", is a malignant growth Frontier should have dealt with a long time ago.

Stop speeding and the misery is over right this day.

Get rid of speeding restrictions around stations completely.

Or obey the laws the same as is demanded of others. It's not hard. The issue isn't the speed limit; the issue is people are caught and are sorry they are caught; not sorry they did something to get caught.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Time to outfit my cutter for....RAMMING SPEED

Y'all should be happy there are speed rules. My 9000mj prismatic shielded cutter would have a lot of fun without them...!

Are we talking about griefers or the griefed here?

I wash my hands of this subject.

When I speak the unfiltered truth, it hurts feelies, so these are my final words on this subject.

Watch the videos, add the offenders to your block lists, visit their other sites, harvest their roster, block them all, and move on.

Thing is OP, your point is moot, arguably the best pilot of the SDC, that being Rinzler, has a video about trading in Open and how to git gud at it. One of the things he states several times is NEVER EVER EVER go over the speed limit, not for a minute, not for one second, people are known to suicide small ships into bigger ones that always speed (which even the failure docking computer makes you speed) in order to get the station to destroy you. If you don't break the damn speeding law, you won't be blown up if someone rams you. Period. End of Story. The type 10 pilot was violating one of the rules of Open (and actual station in-game laws as you get a speeding notification on the right of your HUD) and paid the price.

The revamped crime and punishment system thats supposed to be coming is a joke and restrictive in way too many ways to carebear and coddle too many babies who chose to play in Open then decide to violate all the laws such as speeding or flying shieldless. Also block lists are nothing but problems as the game already has problems instancing people normally together, with the way people make friends in this game, having a block list to block someone you don't like in a mode you chose to play in, only causes more instancing problems for the game, so don't block people. If you cannot handle Open, go put in an application to Mobius, then you can play with others without the fear of PvP murder hobo's.

Ummm... no. You weren't here before speeding was implemented were you? It was 1000x's worse. Stopped outside or inside the station? Doesn't matter, you get rammed, the ramming ship blows itself up, you get shot out of the sky.

At least now if you go slow there is no issue.

Crime and punishment has nothing to do with the issue you've described. That's simply a player "enforcing" the speed limit by running into speeding ships with a small ship with the intention of having the station open fire when the small ship is destroyed.

FD intentionally put that speed limit in place to stop larger ships from ramming into other smaller ships without consequences. What you're describing are simply the consequences of having a speed limit.

Personally I think the speed limit is far too low and should be at least 150 m/s or even 200 m/s, but FD clearly thinks that players should need to spend several minutes docking and maneuvering for "safety" so until they change the speed limit we're stuck with the current situation.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to kofeyh again. >:[

The only time you should speed into a station is if you are doing smuggling and that is naturally risky as you want to not get a completed scan when going into a dock. Silent running doesn't always work as npcs seem to have magic, not to mention flat wont work in larger ships. If you speed and get caught, you pay the penalty.

Agreed, 100 is a tad too slow. I'd be happy with 150.

Which is, in itself, a logic fail. I mean, imagine you're fluffing about in tower control and you see this dude flying as fast as he can towards the station, trying to create as small a target as possible on the radar... most control officers would look at this go "oi oi oi, wot's goin' on 'ere then?" and get some of the 5-0 to stop him and check him.

IMHO, smuggling should be about trying to blend in as much as possible ..

fun thought: a clamp that lets you hook yourself to the underside of a ship :p
