Tiny Adjustments on XYZ Axis

Hi there folks,

I got Planet Coaster for Christmas and am a total noob (and new here) so I am sorry if this is obvious or has been asked countless times before, I did search before posting but could find nothing.

I am trying to build my very first building (a toilet block) and want to put icing on the gingerbread roof. I am trying to rotate it to line up exactly with the edge of the roofing, but it seems to either settle too high or too low using the mouse. Is there a way to make tiny adjustments? Please don't laugh too hard at my effort!!! Can you see how the front icing is sticking up slightly at the corners?

Thank you for any replies.

There are 2 types of building parts: gridded and not gridded. You can tell which is which by looking at the background of the part's thumbnail in the parts menu. Non-gridded parts have a blank white background, gridded parts have a blue grid background. Anyway, you can only make fine adjustments (or even radical changes of orientation) with non-gridded parts. Most of the "trim" parts such as your icing eaves are non-gridded so you can do basically whatever you want with them. (the gridded parts are much more limited).

Anyway, what you do is, place your icing trim in the general vicinity of where you want it. Then, with the trim piece still highlighted, hit the X key 1 time. This will cause 3 arrows (red, green, and blue) to appear on or near the part. These allow fine movement in the X, Y, and Z axes. Just pull on these arrows with the mouse to move the part where you want it. If you hit X a 2nd time, the arrows change to circles, allowing rotation around all 3 axes.

Once you have the part where you want it, click on the check mark in the UI that appears when you hit X. There you go.

Thanks @Bullethead for the info about the gridded parts etc.

@Parkmaker thank you, you are right - it was angle snap that was stopping the adjustments I wanted. I managed to find it and untick it and can now make tiny rotations [up]
