Just a little thing I noticed when my pad marker disappears (not the one on your Nav Compass).
If your pad marker is not visible, one thing you can do is follow your nav compass. This will normally bring you about to your correct pad. Sometimes, just the Nav Compass is not enough and can leave a player, especially a new one, lost and confused. If this happens, you can look at the pads around where your Nav Compass points and look for a pad with the pad lighting on. Your pad will be visibly brighter than the others. If there are more pads lit, chances are you've been put on the pad appropriate for your craft (Small, Med, Large). In other words, if you haven't purchased a T6 or more expensive ship, you're on a small pad. T6, Asp, & Python are on Medium pads. Everything else, large.
Yes I know this is a bug that is most likely going to be fixed in a future patch.
