Tip: The terrain type could boost your dinosaur's vegetation needs!

So this is something cool I found out about the game's terrain mechanics.

I was building an enclosure in my Germany park to house some compsognathus. It is an open space between the park's hotels, so I thought it would be cool to have a small dinosaur enclosure there. Once the fencing was done I changed my mind and decided to make it house a Sauropelta instead, and modified the vegetation once she was placed in her new enclosure.

You could see I was not able to meet her environmental needs fully, with barely enough ground leaf to fully satisfy her. Since she was 97% comfortable, I thought it was no big deal, so I might just modify the terrain to make it look as green as possible since it was covered in sand for the previous compsognathus enclosure idea. Only when I made the enclosure grassy did I notice the paleo needs have been satisfied greatly!

This is so cool to find out! The terrain brushes have an additional mechanic of boosting the paleo-vegetation appeal to your dinosaurs. I have tried this with forest-heavy enclosures, but it looks like forests are not affected by this boost (at least from what I tried).

Still, this is excellent if you plan to house herbivores in smaller living spaces. If you want to use this boost, use grass, dirt, and some rocks to boost the paleo appeal of your enclosure. Other rocks and sand would remove this boost, and I think this also depends on what map you are currently on that determines which terrain type provides a paleo boost, so I recommend experimenting when satisfying the paleo needs of your dinosaur.

Hope you found this tip useful 👋
