After 20 hours in game I'd like to add some tips of my own:
1) You can move fences, no really, just grab a post, click the icon with the four arrows and away you go. Great for getting those fences perfect.
2) If building an underwater viewing area, build the paths first, then fill in the rest.
3) Make the most of the animal market when the server is responding and check it often for rarer animals.
4a) When starting out grab one cheap pair of animals, get them a basic exhibit, wait for some babies to pop out and profit.
4b) Don't waste conservation credits to begin with. Grab a couple of cash animals. You can click on the money icon to sort, same goes for animal species, click on the species button and select what you are after. Tortoise are great to start with, smallish space requirement, pop out babies quickly, won't die for real life days, and can be used for a walk through exhibit which guests love.
5) Donation boxes everywhere you can see an animal. Also educational stuff.
6) Plants hanging over fences count towards the exhibit foliage.
7) Research as soon as you can, and check on it often, the researchers can be a bit slack.
8) Keep your best female babies to replace the previous generation when they pass away, then just buy in a new male to keep those genes fresh.
9) You can compare a female to a male to see how good their babies are going to be. Its under the DNA/hour glass icon on the animal info tab.
10) Save often, really often. Its a beta, there are bugs, sometimes you'll need to reload your game.
