tips for anaconda hunting in cobra

Hello,
looking for some help in taking out anacondas (npcs only)
im in a top end cobra.
before the last update i could take them down - but it was a major struggle - but it was achievable.

now i cant even get close.
they seem to have beams coming out from every direction - front rear - side.

any tips on this or do i just need a bigger ship.

frontal assault is suicide, when i do get behind them even more lasers come out the rear.
cheers

Yup, safest place to attack an anaconda is from below and to the rear. If you can, try and stay at a 90 degree angle facing their bottom hull and select the power plant. Use thrusters to keep you in place.

Depends if you're in a RES/Assassination mission or in a CZ.
For the first, stack some chaff and some SCBs. If you start getting hit, Boost out of there. Beams and Multicannons should work just fine, but if you're exclusively hunting larger ships you might be better off with cannons.

CZ are filled with turrets, which are immune to chaff so for that instance get a better ship.

thanks for the tips.
i dont fly with chaff so might swap my point defence for chaff.
yeah im trying the assasination missions - but going for the lower value ones <80K.
and failing everytime

You can't shield tank in a Cobra, so don't get hit. Chaff helps with that. Hugging it's but or it's underside is where you want to stay. Utilize your lateral thrusters the entire fight.

Actually, the cobra has quite a decent power plant doesn't it? You can always try running two railguns or particle accelerators in the C2 hardpoints, backed up by beams or MCs. hell, you can probably go for a full rail setup.
Ammo cost will be pretty steep, but high-damage weapons like that are perfect for assassinations, plus in a cobra you should have more than enough power to spare.

I second the chaffs, you definitly need them. Also, in my knowledge I think I have read someplace here that chaff does affect turrets.

Behind and below the Anaconda is where you want to stay. In my experience, a two small beam two medium multi-cannons work well. Sure, cannons and rails might do more damage but the multis don't consume much capacitor power and just keep shooting and the rate of fire is pretty high. And as always, target the power plant.
