Tips for material collection on odyssey.

I've grinded for hours in Odyssey and the rank 2-3 suits seem to take like 20 hours to get the mats for 1 upgrade through regular play. Is there a better way to be doing this? Should I just grind settlements and offload stacks and stacks of mats into an srv and then just trade for everything? What is recommended?

Check every pioneer supplies you visit. Sometimes (actually fairly often at the quieter stations) you'll see a suit or gun with some extra levels, or even an upgrade.

Sometimes these upgrades are fantastic, like the time I got a faster-handling L-6 before I had any of the engineers unlocked, and a night-vision maverick.

Sometimes they're... not so useful.

(this is fine if all you want is a G3 executioner, but both those mods are a wasted slot on an exe)

I recommend not worrying too much about how long it takes, but try to enjoy the journey. There's nothing at the end, so why rush to get there?

I'm just doing missions and slowly upgrading stuff, and I've been having a great time because many of the missions are excellent fun.

You can always check Youtube for videos about how to raid settlements as fast as possible and log in and out or jump here and there to reset...but then it really will be a grind. Up to you, I guess.

Another thing that I strongly recommend is not building your entire shopping list from the outset, you'll be put off by just how long it is.

Do it in steps. Work a single suit up and a single gun. For practicality's sake, I'd say work on upgrading a maverick, with extra backpack capacity if you can swing it. Once you have that, future upgrades become a lot easier to gather materials for. Guns - a single weapon at G4-5, even a sidearm, will serve you better than a pile of guns at G3. Personally I recommend maxing out a tormentor and slapping both audio masking and noise suppression on it once you have the respective engineers unlocked. Even now when I'm running missions, that bad boy is pretty much my main gun. I hardly ever use my primary unless I'm on a massacre mission.

Excellent info.
