Tips for more efficient space usage

Hey, so I'm looking for tips on saving space. I'm on Nublar, and I have less than half of the total species in the game and already have no space left. Until the devs cave in to the public pressure to actually give us an island with enough room for everything, I'm looking for tips on efficient usage of space. Things like good species combinations, that sort of thing.

I figured that one out too [noob]

I would say put as many species into one enclosure as you can.

Yeah, the thing I'm basically trying to find out is what species play well together. Mainly carnivores, because with herbivores the only real limiting factor is which species has the lowest population limit (Nodosaurus and Polecanthus are least tolerant of high populations, in my experience)
It'd be nice if Nublar was actually a decently sized island, though. I hope they fix it soon.

I know the Dracorex and the Crichtonsaurus work better in small enclosures with just a handful of them in it. But the Triceratops, Edmontosaurus and all the Dinosaurs you can unlock on Matanceros can all be put in one pretty big enclosure.

Ankylosaurs in general tend to have a low tolerance for big groups of dinosaurs. The ornithomimids, on the other hand, are the easiest dinos in the game to please, and can tolerate large crowds.

As far as carnivores go, Metriacanthosaurus and Deinonychus can coexist peacefully with no problems. I had an enclosure with one Metriacanthosaurus and about 4 Deinonychus. They got along beautifully. I'm not sure which other carnivores can get along. From my experience, the T. rex will always fight everyone else, no matter how much space it has in its enclosure.

Sauropods all need big exhibits, but also have very high max populations. So they're good all together and with Struthiomimus and all the other knockoff emus.

Most large + small combos of carnivores work IMHO - my goto is T Rex + raptors, but the other small carnivores work as well, as long as they have their social group.

I found this on Reddit by Eotyrannus

-You can classify dinosaurs according to eight categories- dilos, raptors, large carnivores, giant carnivores, the I-rex, small herbivores, duckbills, defensive herbivores and giant herbivores.

-Dilos hunt small herbivores, fight raptors, intimidate defensive herbivores, flee from large carnivores.

-Raptors hunt small herbivores and duckbills, fight dilos, intimidate defensive herbivores, flee from large carnivores.

-Large carnivores hunt small herbivores and duckbills, fight large carnivores and defensive herbivores, intimidate raptors and dilos.

-Small herbivores are eaten by all carnivores.

-Duckbills are eaten by most carnivores and are afraid of dilos.

-Defensive herbivores intimidate raptors and dilos, and fight large carnivores.

-Giant herbivores are afraid of giant carnivores and are (presumably) eaten by I-rex.

-Resilience increases health regen.

Edit: Dilos and raptors, and small herbivores and duckbills, may be in the same category. I just had a dilo kill a cory while I wasn't looking. I had a dilo and an edmonto in a small enclosure doing nothing- maybe they need a 'run-up' space?

In case you haven't seen it, this is a pretty decent species guide video:

Also it's basic but in case you're not aware already, you can save a bit of space by only having one Hammond Creation Lab attached to a small release paddock, and just dart & transport animals to where you want them. I like to have that smaller paddock inside one of my larger herbivore paddocks with a gate to that, so when I'm releasing new herbivores I can mostly leave the gate open to feed into the larger enclosure and newly released dinosaurs can just wander in there for their first meal and drink if necessary when I'm dealing with something else.

From what I understand, there are 5 different dinos to work with.
* Small herbivores
* Armored herbivores
* Sauropods
* Small carnivores
* Large Carnivores

Herbivores could be together no prob, but some like the ankylosaurs, ceratopsians, and stegos don't like large populations. Sauropelta is a no-no in large exhibits.
Carnivores could be mixed, but the other species would always be fleeing.
small carnivores could be with armored herbivores, sauropods, and large carnivores, but will kill other small carnivores. (Raptor w Ankylo, sure. Raptor w Dilo, no no.)
Large carnivores could only be with small carnivores, and even then the small carnivores always flee from them. Also Metricanthosaurus and Majungosaurus despite being medium sized, are considered large. Never put two different species of large carnivores together. And some like the spino and giga wouldn't mind company from the same species.

In regards to space, I experiment to see what works. I always put my path in a grid like fashion with enough space and straight lines to place in buildings together. I also almost always use only one hammond incubation center with a fence around the entrance. Tranq the dinos, and move them to their enclosure. It takes more time, but you save a lot of space, money, and get to see every dino in a zzz state haha.

Also, always plan to have enough space for hotels and trains. Those two would help increase your park's fame a LOT.

I have a 3 or 4 Deinonychus in with my T-Rex and it works quite well. Neither tries to escape, even during a storm. I keep a couple Ankylosaurus in with my Raptors and they seem to keep them calm as well. Not sure how this works but it does.

For space management, one thing i want to try is limit my creation labs. I want to build the lab and surround the exit with fences and 3 gates that all lead to a different enclosure. I’d breed the Dino then open the appropriate gate for the enclosure I want the dinosaur to travel into. Hopefully they’ll just wander in, then I close the gate. One lab connected to three enclosures. Will also save money and power. Breakouts however could lead to amusing moments as the enclosures would share walls lol.

Large carnivores could only be with small carnivores, and even then the small carnivores always flee from them.
They can also be with Sauropods. The only carnivore that can kill sauropods is Indo-Rex. The rest of the carnivores can work with sauropods albeit they would need a lot of space and forest. It would be challenging to make a small + large carnivore + sauropods enclosure work, which is not a bad thing.
