Tips to improve my Annaconda Build

I am currently running the below set up predominantly as an armed trader - though I will tend to scan each system as well as I go along and if I happen to see somebody in super cruise I am not adverse to occasionally picking up the odd bit of bounty - or mass locking somebody and asking nicely if they would like to share their cargo with me - so ideally some all round functionality with the ability to defend / fight back if somebody decides to pick a fight.

I would like to keep around 200t cargo as its an expensive ship to run so I still head back to a couple of profitable routes I know to top up cash.

Its currently pretty manoeuvrable and I'd like to maintain that and as combat is not my area of expertise I have avoided too many fixed weapons as I find people often gang up so having the turrets and gimbled helps when switching between multiple targets

Im not convinced about the point defence - but it uses so little energy i just stuck them on

I have a few hundred million left so could afford composite upgrades - but are they worth it?

Anyway please let me know your thoughts as to how to improve it

Replace the two point defence systems for shield boosters.

Replace all your weapons hardpoints with gimballed pulse lasers throughout except the two medium hardpoints on the side: Put two gimballed multicannons on them.

Good to go.
 
Move the 4A FSD-Interdictor out of the class 6 slot into a class 4 one and put somtehing more useful into the free slot, a cargo rack at least :)

Not sure about gimbled pluse lasers though... will have to try it out

but 7a shield gen taking my actual mass very close to my optimal with 2Xa shield boosters and 2Xb shield boosters plus I dont know what is going on when I export but its showing me 2X 5A shield cell and a 4A shield cell.

over 200t cargo and even if I dont like the pulse lasers i guess with that shield set up I will have long enough to make them work (or sc away in most circumstances)

I got rid of the doccing computer as I dont need it - Im just lazy
 
I would upgrade the Life Support to D. I'm also using Mirrored Surface Composite bulkheads for extra protection, but it's pricey and raises your insurance quite a bit.
 
If you intend to ask people nicely for their cargo, you should fit a cargo scanner so you find out what they're carrying. Unless you're exceptionally good at guessing. :)

Only 80T of cargo but you are unlikely to get that much anyway, 3 SCB's for dealing with bounty hunters. Collector controller so you don't have to painstakingly scoop cargo whilst cops shoot you. Plasma accelerator is for show more than anything, it provides the teeth to your "stand and deliver".

Minimal shield/weapons to deal with NPC's. For more combat orientated upgrade the shield size, the powerplant/Thrusters and then distributor for multicannons and more beam lasers.
Similar jump range despite increase in cargo but much cheaper to replace if destroyed so can be flown with less care.
