TIPS

So, I thought it would be nice to have us players help each other with useful advice.
Here's mine:

ISLA MATANCEROS
Do the missions in this order:
  1. Science
  2. Security
  3. Entertainment
Science and Security are kinda tutorials on how to use the Ranger station and ACU center. The reason for Science first is that it happened to me that my Edmontosaurus broke the fence (maybe my fault, I guess I was delaying the opening of the gate too much) and I didn't have a Ranger station to repair it. Therefore I ended up with a loose Edmontosaurus, 3 loose Struthiomimuses and a broken fence I couldn't repair. So Security after Science is a must here.
Entertainment mission requires to hatch and release a Ceratosaurus, a.k.a. your very first carnivore. At this point all herbivores available are vulnerable to predation from large carnivores (i.e. Ceratosaurus), so you need a separate enclosure for this animal; that's why you should do this one in last place.

ISLA TACAÑO
The Science mission requires to keep a Velocirraptor and a Diplodocus under their comfort threshold for 3 minutes, without any breakouts, and then have them recover comfort.
  1. Hatch the Diplodocus first, into an enclosure big enough for her.
  2. Into the same enclosure, hatch 3 Velocirraptors.
  3. Drive a ranger Jeep into the enclosure
  4. Build a small enclosure within the enclosure around the jeep, with no gate. Double fence optional but reccomended.
  5. Tranquilize the mission required dinos and move them into the small pen, with the jeep.
  6. Repair any fences the dinosaurs break attempting to escape. Even if they manage to find a weak spot and go through it before you can repair it, they'll only go into the bigger enclosure, so you'll technically have no escaped dinosaurs; they'll only recover comfort pausing the 3:00 time counter.
  7. Demolish the small enclosure after both dinosaurs have past the 3:00 uncomfortable time.
The extra Velocirraptors are for comfort recovery after the mission or in the case the mission raptor escape the small enclosure, so it won't inmediately try to escape the big one into the all-you-can-eat-dino-buffet visitor's area.

ISLA SORNA
  • The first thing you should do is locate and tranquilize the Spinosaurus, so it doesn't kill any Stegosaurus (you have 17 free dinos giving you an income from crazy visitors willing to visit an unfinished park, why waste anything?).
  • Start building your park NOT from the facilities you already have near the entrance: build a monorail station next to the entrance and take your "park" (enclosures and guest facilities) somewhere else. This will inmediately skyrocket the Transport rating to 100%.
  • At some point demolish the given Security center so it doesn't affect facility rating because it's the only guest facility in the area (I've personally replaced it with a ranger station for repairs, but only because I've already unlocked everything and restarted the island; you'd probably do better with an Expedition, Fossil or Research center there)
  • The Science mission requires you to hatch, release and enclose together several dinosaurs, including a Metriacanthosaurus and 2 Pentaceratopses. Hatch the carnivore last or keep it separate at first so it won't kill other mission-required animal before you hatch them all. Keep an eye on the Pentaceratopses as well, they'll go crazy for too much population and/or not enough social (I've drove the jeep honking every time they attacked the fence, so it wasn't necesary to tranquilize them).

I may update this post later; these are the tips I can give remembering my first campaign playthrough.

I can't believe I went through all those missions. The Diplo and Velos mission was also messing up with my comfortable stress level. But thanks again for next time.. soon!!!

Sorna missions are a nightmare. :D
Did them once, and blazed through them I don't even know how. Probably luck. Now I'm doing them again and I'm ready to scalp myself.

Good luck!
I didn't had any problem with the Entertainment mission (though I was worried during the storm...like you said, it was probably luck). As for the Security mission (hatch and enclose 4 modified large carnivores) I built a separated section for it because I was sure they would try to escape, so it better be far from the visitors and other dinosaurs. It didn't happen, but the Indominus broke a wall and killed her Ceratosaurus neighbor. Still acomplished the missios, so...that's it. If you wanna keep the 4 carnivores after the mission make 4 separate enclosures with no shared walls, and have enough live bait feeders to keep them busy and uninterested on attacking the fences

Yeah, entertainment is kind of easy. But I just finally tacled the science (the Pentas are SOOO annoying during that mission) and now I'm battling Indominus in security mission. After that, I can finally start making Sorna what I want it to be. (Right now the whole third of the island is dedicated to custom enclosures just for missions. :D

Storms last roughly 3 mins if a dinos comfort is higher than 75% use the highest fence you got lower dinos comfort rarely gets less than 80% during storms

I always put water and feeders in front of viewing galleries, to ensure that guests can get a close-up view of my dinos.

Does anyone have any tips for the "You'll never look at birds the same way again" trophy?

For some reason If you have too many dinosaurs in an enclosure some of them refuse to eat or drink. I had a large enclosure with parasaurolophus and corythosaurus with water in the middle. Because there were so many of them, some of them could never get a chance too drink so they started dying of dehydration.

Never had a problem with that, only after the 1.6 update my dinosaurs start to panick for no reason, which then leads to starvation / dehydration.

Good tips! It's always good to hear different people's strategies for the game!

Didn't achieved it yet, and already failed a first attempt, but here's my contribution:

You have only 1 species (Ceratosaurus) to reach the 1-Star rating required to unlock other carnivores, and 3 of them (social maximum) is not enough (even with complete genomes), so either:
  • Build an ACU center and be prepared to sedate and sell at least one of them after releasing a fourth one (this is what I came up with, CRT-004 was modded with Aggressive instincts 1.0 and pushed the rating enough to unlock Dilophosaurus and Velocirraptor, but it went down again when I sold CRT-001)
  • Prepare the first enclosure to be divided into 2 sections, so you won't have to sell any dinosaur (probably a better option, but you have to know it beforehand)

Good luck!

This is how I achieved it:

Park map

In construction order, the enclosures are
  • 3 Ceratosaurus & 6 Velocirraptor
  • 2 Baryonix & 12 Dilophosaurus
  • 2 Metriacanthosaurus & 8 Deinonychus
  • 2 Suchomimus & 12 Dilophosaurus
  • 2 Giganotosaurus & 11 Dilophosaurus
  • 2 Carnotaurus & 12 Dilophosaurus
  • and I hatched 8 more Dilophosaurus in an enclosure built for another big carnivore...probably T.rex, since that was the unlocked missing, but then I realize I already had a 5-star dinosaur rating, so it was facility what was holding me back. Demolished research and fossil centers to make room for an hotel (no pun intended) and BANG! From 3 to 5 stars!

Park stats

I didn't overcome the variety penalty but somehow make it up for it spamming Dilophosaurus, hahah

Didn't built an ACU center until the first dinos started to die from old age, to remove the corpses. Instead, double-fenced every paddock and didn't have any outbreaks, just some broken inner walls every once in a while...and reload from last save if a tornado set a dinosaur free. Is that cheating?
Either way...
Didn't research electrified fences. Double-fencing is more effective and doesn't consume energy, and tornadoes don't care if a fence is electrified or not. Did research, however, Heavy steel and Concrete wall as soon as available, and as the budget allows it, replace the previous weaker fence.

Each time a dinosaur died it was replaced with an Aggressive instincts 1.0 (and that's the only gene I researched, didn't researched the 2.0 version nor any skin) modded specimen, until then I didn't do any modifications and waited to 100% genome to hatch every one of them..."I can't afford failed incubations" I thought. Researched and applied Success rate at this point, so every incubation had a 100% chance of success. Since I was spamming Dilophosaurus, applied Hatchery capacity to mass-produce them, and Reaction speed when I was incubating the big ones (probably this wasn't neccesary).

Applied Dig yield to Expedition center, Extraction speed to Fossil center and Research cost to Research center. Didn't even researched the other upgrades for those buildings (except for extra research and dig teams).

Before incubating a new unlocked dino, researched every available medical treatment, except for Bracken poisoning. I think all carnivores are inmune to it.

Researched and built Storm stations, Restaurants, Arcades and Clothes shops (I've been told this 3 guest buildings are the one combination that make it easily to 5 star facility rating) and Monorail station in the late game. It is quite expensive...so it had to wait for the Research cost upgrades. No viewing tower nor gyrosphere stations, but I did thought of the first one when I was hatching those last 8 Dilos...

Didn't research electricity buildings, just the Improved output and Outage reduction upgrades.

And...I think that's all.

At one point I received a DINOSAUR FIGHT notification, between two Dilos in the Suchomimus pen.

They weren't uncomfortable in any way (enough forest, enough grassland and not overcrowded) and both were well fed and hydrated (Food and Water were not in red, at least).
It was weird, because I've seen other fights but this was the only one when the dinos hurted each other. Normally one of them panicks and retreat, and there is no notification.

Good luck MrGoodbytes!
