Tired of being shot down.......... no more.

Well, Ive had it. I cant take it any more.

I quit first time because making money doing freight became nearly impossible for my small ship.

I came back months later. I thought, maybe they fixed the trade system. It was brilliant during Beta, but went south on launch.

Nope. Now, I just get shot down. Cant even get to a station with freight. Its like pirates are all there are. Like flies on a station. Go into a system to a good port and suddenly 5 flies are after you and bam... shot down again. In one week, I wonder how many times I died.

LATER DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did simple missions until I had enough for an adder, then I just started grinding bounty's at RES's, trading as a viable earning strategy seems it doesn't even really become viable until you have at least a cobra or bigger.

Pretty much how I started..

@OP What station are you trying to get into?

If you're being shot down by CMDR's, you're trading in the wrong systems. Some areas are pirate-infested, some areas are desolate and empty. The areas don't change quickly. I'm guessing you're just trying to do this in the roughest neighborhood.

Fly 100LY in any direction and try again. :)

OC, just for you.

Well I made my first million entirely by trading from the sidey up. Yes, it takes a long time at the beginning to make profits (carefully selecting trading missions helps) but you don't have to do it the BH way, if you don't want to.

If it were made much easy we'd all be upgrading from the early ships within hours and they'd become utterly pointless. Playing Elite is not about the rush to larger ships - it's about enjoying the ship you're currently in (he says with an Anaconda, a Python and a Vulture :)... but my point stands!)

Relax into the game - it'll take as long as it takes. That's half the fun.

From the title, I thought we were going to get a public announcement that the OP was going to take revenge on those that were tormenting him. Pity, it might have been a good story.

Lots, (and I mean LOTS), of people play this game, in open, solo or in a group, and have great fun. If you're not enjoying the game and want some advice on how to change that then posting on here would be a good idea. Just posting, 'I'm not having fun, never going to play this again' and bu*****g off? I can't see the point of that.

What ship are you in, OP? Maybe some slight upgrades and learning to flee would help. Most NPC pirates couldn't fight sleep, so you only have to submit, then boost and twist your way back into SC. E: D is pretty balanced, so you won't get any Anacondas attacking you if you're in an Eagle, unless you go looking for them. Learning to fight and learning to fly (OMG, my sig, my sig!) are core to this happy little space trading combat sim of ours.

I'm not one for discouraging anyone away from the game, but Im sorry to say but it sounds like this game isnt for you OP. It isnt for everyone. The game isnt pick up and win. Theres no shortcut or quick progress button. Their will be hurdles you have to climb along the way. Progress is slow and purposely slow. Its meant to be played like a marathon not a sprint. Savoured. It doesnt take a week to win, Infact most of the time you wont get anywhere, but its not about getting anywhere its about enjoying the journey. There is no race, no finish line, play at your own pace making small progress every once in a while.

I dont think theres anything anyone can say to help you other than the fact that 99% manage just fine. You might not have the same patience levels.

really OP????
.
Surely if you were a beta player you had the slightest idea how to trade and fight - Gawd its all we did
.
If you were beta and still cant get the game then it really isn't for you (that's me being polite - it anyone was a fan of chewin the fat then there is a certain catch phrase from that program that's apt)

ah kitten... well look, try a different trade route. try it in solo. try just hunting in your little side winder, but staying away from the big ships, and anarchy system.. don't get mad. its just a game :)

For me trade is the same as in Beta, once you figure it out its super easy...than its just up to you want to grind or not...

If you complain about Open mode killers go to Solo or Group mode = problem solved ;)

Trading in the beta was made easy so we could test easier. That wasnt the game that was testing. The real game is meant to be played for years. Not all in one go, but in whatever time you give it.

We all started at the bottom with a small ship and nothing much else and outclassed by almost everything else out there. Expect to be blown up. Thats why its free to be blown up. The best weapon in the early days is the run button. Infact most people would argue being attacked doesnt happen enough. Thats its too easy to make money.

I dont have much time, but I play when I can, did my fair share of running and hiding, slowly I got out of my sidewinder, and moved up. Now, months after realese and playing sparingly I have an Asp and 8 million in the bank. Getting shot down gets much rarer with 6 hardpoints, and making money gets easier when your ship can carry 100 gold. But Thats the rewards for putting the effort in I guess.

If it's players, play in solo or move away.

If it's npcs, when you get interdicted, throttle to zero, submit to the interdiction, full pips to engines, boost at full throttle, wait for your FSD to come online, jump.

You now have the tools you need to trade in peace. Get back into your ship, beta commander.

My advice is to do some missions and move away from the starter system to somewhere quieter. The missions will help you make some easy money whilst you move to a safer location. Also do some exploring as you are flying as well. It's a fairly easy way to top up those credits. Biggest piece of advice, move away from the starter systems which are heavily populated and go somewhere quieter.

The trade system sucked in beta and it still sucks today (spoiled by X).
The transport ship line is utter garbage. Trade in a Viper until you can afford a Cobra.
My Trade Cobra has no weapons or shields and it can outrun everything. So I submit hit boost twice and jump away. Works against NPCs and CMDRs alike.
Well, CMDR get a little taunt before I jump away to add extra humiliation.
