Titan maw - liquid ammonia ?

So, I was nosing around the maw of a titan earlier, and had a thought. There's a distinct liquid audio effect (and also visuals) when thargoid ships enter and leave the yellow maw, and it seemed like it might be liquid ammonia.

Do we know if the thargoids live in gaseous ammonia, or liquid (kind of like ammonia fish) ? Is the maw like the letterbox of a Coriolis station, but with liquid ammonia inside rather than air/gas ?

Well, we don't know where the Thargoids actually live, or even if they are from our galaxy/dimension... But they do seem to be very fond of systems with Ammonia Worlds(or is it planets with Ammonia atmospheres?) and many people have theorized they are Ammonia-based organisms.

The audio/visual effects of the Titan Portal definitely look like an ammonia airlock to me, but having studied the Thargoid Surface Sites, I'm very curious as to what the inside of their "Hangar" looks like on the active Titans. It doesn't seem to me there's much room between the top portal and the map room on the Surface Sites. Perhaps instead of an "Airlock", it's more of a "Dimension-lock"?

Ammonia would instantly vaporize unless confined by some sort of field.

It does make a liquid sound, but it is probably just one of these:

It would be cool if it was some sort of portal to witchspace or planetary hive... but not likely.

Maybe we're seeing a membrane covering liquid nitrogen and methane; the Titan generates electricity, which can not only produce ammonia through pyrolisis of methane, but could convert nitrogen to additional ammonia through the Haber-Bosch process. The leftover waste would include hydrogen, which the Titan might convert into Tritium for it to move around with.

Funny thing - the circle and dot within the Raxxla logo, with its radiating semicircles could be seen as a hydrogen atom, and the semicircles as ionic emination of tritium particles.

I just heard a Thargoid do a giggle snort as they read this, and leaned over to his buddy and said "These silly humans don't realize that we are very proud of our ships and our young ones are just as proud of them. They don't realize that we allow our children to honor our ships by letting them paint the symbols on our ships, and they don't understand that those are just paint splatters. Children are not as neat as we adults but we appreciate the honor our children give to us. I love the way these humans misinterpret so much."

The mark on the Thargoids is thought by some players as a reference to the Large Magellanic Cloud; I was referring the Dark Wheel Raxxla logo's circle & dot! ;)

While I can’t say much to whichever material this ‘portal’ might be, the description(and name) of the ‘Phasing Membrane Residue’ that you can find around the smaller entrances on the side of the Titan seems to indicate it isn’t really a gas. So that probably rules out ammonia.

I simply assume this leads directly to Whichspace, either just as a general beacon to allow quick deployment or possibly directly connected to their hive systems, which I'll claim is a dyson sphere around a neutron star they moved from normal space into Whichspace like a really big spaceship.
