Hardware & Technical Titan X (pascal) announced...

.... apparently about $1,200....

Not for the AMD masses........ ;) :D Sorry couldn't resist. :)

This card is perfect for 1080p60 Minecraft lol. Honestly the 1080 is overkill so I don't see where this monstrosity even fits in. 11 tflops..... Well, 4k60 is possible. Sick.

Edit:
Nvidia doesn't have a whole lot of reasons for a 1080ti, unless AMD comes too close or even outperforms the 1080 with their Vega.

Unless Nvidia encounters some form of competition then they'll continue to charge what they like - just as Intel currently do.

Eagerly awaiting Zen / Vega.... ;)

Yeah, having 70-80% of the market shares will do that to any company, unfortunately.
I'm awaiting Vega as well. I'm eager to see how and if the market will change.

980ti is enough for E: D 4k@60Hz (slightly 'nerfed' Ultra settings) - so, TitanX(P) is overkill for E: D players currently. Meaning I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I had so much extra money at my disposal :)

Yeah, but ED isn't exactly the benchmark of graphics.

A very interesting theoretical performance analysis by this great bloke.

On the naming confusion, I note the old one was called GTX Titan X, but the new one is called NVIDIA Titan X.

There's always room for something faster, although the price:performance ratio often gets worse.

Looking at MSRPs in US$:
1060 $249
1070 $379
1080 $599
1080Ti ???
Nvidia Titan X $1200

I think there is room for a 1080Ti in the same way the 980Ti was a slightly cut down Titan with a bigger cut in price. Maybe something around $800 mark since it has to be cheap enough so you wouldn't just go for the Titan, but still a bit more than the model below.

Its a card I'll never have so the name is unimportant to me. But Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan X is a silly name so renaming it is only logical. I'd like to see another name though, like Titan XP. :)
HBM2 would only increase the price of the card as the manufacturing process is very slow and delicate which means stocks would suffer and pricing would then follow the trend we've seen now. GDDR5X with the massive bandwidth is probably more than enough I reckon.

Been reading a lot of comments on YT and FB and wow people really seem to hate Nvidia.

I'm assuming it's the same set of raving lunatics and fanboys that said the rx480 would rival a 1070! People will always bash the market leader.

I think AMD deserves just as much hate as nvidia gets, with all their claims of radically better thermals and power efficiency their new polaris chips are still as hot and inefficient as ever. But now they've paired their gpus with cheap materials and poorly constructed coolers, all in the name of a lower msrp.

To some extent though, people have a point when complaining about prices. 80% market share gives nvidia confidence to charge whatever they want which isn't great for the consumer.

Titan cards in particular have always been plain silly and only ever served to make the xx80ti version seem more appealing when it launches.

The almost comical thing is, I switched to pc gaming after getting fed up of the constant ms/Sony fanboy squabbling. Only to find AMD vs Nvidia is just as bad!

I hate NVidia for the price, but otherwise I love it on all other points

:)
Well, I always go with MSI video cards which are among the priciest, but I've never been disappointed in their build quality or performance. They aren't that much more, but do operate brilliantly.

The new Titan X looks bonkers, but it's only available from NVIDIA. I'd like an aftermarket cooler on there at the very least. My trusty MSI GTX 980Ti 6G Gaming is working well and no real need to upgrade at this time.

If you're using a VR set you might want as much power as possible.
