Titan X

Hi all,

Just wondering, lots of people are talking 980TI but what about a Titan X?
would a Titan X not give you longer to save for the next big cards rather than a 980TI that may not.
just curious

Still don't know what to go for yet VIVE/RIFT, its going to be one of em :D

I just bought a MSI GTX 980Ti a few days ago after researching that and the TITAN X (and Z). I bought this one.

The TITAN X gives roughly 15% better performance than the 980Ti. However, through judicious OC, you can get performance on par with the TITAN for many hundreds of dollars less. I won't be OC'ing my 980 as that sometimes causes issues with some games and hardware. However the MSI TITAN X was 1,700 dollars and I just couldn't justify that for a single card. The 980Ti will run Vive VR effortlessly and a TITAN X gives no real advantage save additional future proofing.

Note: my video cards are MSI and mother boards are ASUS. I've never had any issues with either after three PC builds and recommend them. They are slightly more expensive, but built very well, stay cooler (Twin Frozr) and are quite durable.

nice, as usual in ripoff Britain $659 = £656

Expensive hobby this init? :D
I live in Bermuda so I automatically add 25% import duty (and exorbitant handling / shipping fees) on everything I buy.

The wife gave me a scowl when I told her about the 980Ti and Vive purchase. However, it's my mad money and does not come out of her pocket.

I have a TitanX, bought it for myself as a birthday present last year.

Goin on runtime .8 through steam VR with the game on med-high. I have shadows turned down and ambient occlusion off, no aa and no super Sampling... and still get Jitter...

im really REAALY hoping Frontier has their hands on the CV1 / Vive and the 1.0 runtimes and are working on smoothing them out.
