It kind of does, though.
I mean, it's not Saitek, so you don't really experience button ghosting and axis travel glitches when the joystick is starved of power, but I'd still recomment using USB 3.0 or a powered hub (a good one!*) if possible.
*beware the cheap powered hubs - their ports usually aren't isolated so the input USB (the one between the hub and PC) is also powered which is a baaad thing. If you plug it into a laptop, you might kill it entirely and even on desktop you can kill the USB port it's been plugged into or the mox chip.
