Indont get it...docking is so so so easy. And I just started playing on release.
130K is a pittance , what can you do with that?
to fully kit out. viper you need around 2Mil, so yeah peeps struggle with the incredibly slow earnings.
this is a game, it should be fun even for casual players.
I also have a family and my game time of 2 hours was spent earning 0 due to NPC wanteds flying away after I get them to 20% or police pulling me over every several minutes even though I have no bounty or fines with this faction.

games got some really stupid mechanics in some parts.
sure it is a fun game, but if I feel like I am hitting my head against a brick wall then I am sure many others are as well.
i really love this game but lately I'm not so excited to play it anymore, the time sinks are horrible and I feel like I have to remind the devs,..this is not real life... Just let the NPC wanteds stay for the entire fight and die. What good does it do if they escape? Nothing, all it does is waste valuable play time.

Have some rep!!

I couldn't agree more.
I have no issues docking, with just a little practice, it's easy!! I don't understand the fuss.. and few other issues in dealing with core mechanics.
I'm an average gamer who is old enough to remember when such things were commonplace in games.
The fact that elite forces you to use your brain and doesn't have any "indicators" to spoon feed you is refreshingly fun in this day and age.
There are so many posts by people who want call of duty in space.

Ye some people expect a space shoot em up.......This is a game for life.....There is no winner .... No one is immune.
Everyone starts with a sidewinder and minimum Credits.....If your any good you will survive and make a good life.
If not then this isn't the game for you :)

The thing is, that the game wants you to get to the point where you start chasing after them and hunting them down using a wakeshift scanner thingy.... or use heavier weapons and take them out quicker. I mean if you get interdicted would you stay and fight if you knew it meant destruction. The game is intended to replicate that sort of behaviour.

LOL I saw the Launch CINEMATIC trailer yeah, and all the other GAMEPLAY trailers so I didn't expect the game to be a Space Shoot-em Up. :) Although there is plenty of that in the game if you want to find it.
Completely agree with the OP though.
Mcguyver I disagree with "this is a game, it should be fun even for casual players" this is most certainly not a game for casual players, the reason being that it would compromise the whole game to make it fit in with casual play. Just because its a "game" does not mean it automatically should be playable to anyone from Hardcore to Casual. This is definitely a Medium to Hardcore gamer game. As for the 130k "Pittance" I think you can do a lot with that, who says you need to "fully" kit out your ship. So long as it does what you need and you can still make a profit, so what, once it starts getting to the point of not fulfilling your needs you upgrade.

Docking is BORING!! After the first 20 times it becomes a detractor of the game for me. Of course ED wants to make me give up an internal slot to a docking computer that is going to land my ship HARD and make me pay for hull repairs. This is totally borked up game play! If ED is going to INSIST on the docking computer taking up a valuable slot in the hull then the ships SHOULD have been designed with THREE 1 ton slots in EVERY hull in ADDITION to the other internal slots that are already there. My opinion is that ED should have offered a nav computer software upgrade that allows auto docking. Also, auto docking should NEVER damage your hull. The software package/equipment upgrade could easily be applied to the sensor package on ships as well. Why do I have to have a slot taken up by a detailed surface scanner and an advanced discovery scanner? Talk about artificial and unrealistic space ship design.

On the plus side the galaxy is VERY well done, visually and the Super-Cruise/Jump mechanic is absolutely brilliant

Meh, each to their own. I'm a fan of flight and less so space so for me the take offs and landing are the best parts... the cruise is booooooooooring. On my way to Vela Dock at the moment, 30 mins and counting... lol

You can't really blame people though...did you watch the trailer :D

Ye I know what you mean.....But its only really a representation of the game..... Its like the original SC trailers..
In game so far nothing like the CGI movies :)

No issues with docking here. Full Ch products HOTAS system helps... especially the mini stick on the Pro Throttle.... It's great for thrusters! Sooo much faster than a docking computer.
Try to keep in mind, this is a sim.

Here Here, best of luck out there commander.

The Elite Dangerous trailer was as fair to the actual game, as the Dwarves escaping via barrels in that Hobbit movie, was true to the book. All that without the need to smoke something suspicious first. The youth of today got it all.

It should be easy cause i dont have the time blah blah. Im sorry but thats bull. Imagine people coming to simulators and ask the same? ED is supposed to be between sim and arcade, and people love it for that and want a decent challenge. To come in and say it should be all arcade and super simple because you dont have time, then its not the game for you clearly. I mean super clearly! Its a space game where it should take time to do things and to master elite rank. So we should always only favour those who dont play a lot and skip those who really are into the games? We shouldnt get games that are challening and fun? Just make fluff out of every damn game on the market to gobble up as quick as possible as you reach top level in no time? I dont get it. Truly dont. There are so many fluffy simple and easy games out there. Why cant we hardcorers have some? I feel its rude to come into every game and ask for it to be dumbed down because some dont have time or dont want to learn. And with this new generation there are so many asking for it that it seems we are too outnumbered and have no chance. No chance of having a mature and challenging game. And even if you dont have time to play a lot, why is it bad to come on and learn those hours you can play and get progressivly better each time where you reach experience eventually? Then you will be playing a game that you took your time to master. Its not boring while learning is it? When was learning a boring thing? I dont get it! Has the world gone mad wanting everything to be on toddler level?

About to give up. People are mad. Im sure of it now.

A lot of complaints seem to be from people usually who are peeved they can't have the end-game content ships next week. And moan about not being able to make enough ;)

Elite: Dangerous is not COD: Space Edition. Go fire up your xbox and get spoon fed your gaming if you don't want to use your brain and take some time to figure out the market or how to fly your ship.

And yes, I am also an older gamer with a life and after figuring some things out am making money well enough. My only complaint so far is the docking bug that makes you have to cancel your docking and re-request docking to make it work. This is 1.0. It is all a part of the experience. Daily patches are a good sign they are working on things.

ok im not picking on this guy.....but this post illustrates everything .......npc's fleeing? would you stay an get your a** kicked if you didnt have to? i for one have become extremely adept at using the escape vector on interdictions......so much so i run my sidey without weapons.
as for kitting out?..... being tooled up makes sense but it isnt the end game here as there isnt one......il be buying a viper soon but wont be bothered over much on the base spec....driven properly the Viper is EVIL.....second only to the Cobra as an all rounder imho

lastly....credit isnt the only satisfaction.....ED allows us all to fulfill our dreams of all things space so huge congrats to FD for delivering an end product....yes it has its flaws, and its bugs....but they are on top of most of it

and finalyto touch on other threads...the community here is great....extremely helpful, and not the least toxic as has been posted by a few troglodites! Thank you all :D

I love docking. Been playing since beta 1 but still love the feeling of coming into land at high speed (and then scraping my ship all over the pad). When I can enter the station at 300 (km/h?) and land on the pad perfectly, maybe I'll get bored.

basically I play this game saying "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'M FLYING A SPACE SHIP! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" every time.

Maybe this is not you :)
