I was using it and dont get me wrong it's great at what it does, but for some reason after a recent OS reinstall, can't get it to work.

So now using reshade which might be a bit harder in terms of getting what you want as there is no predefined ones like EDFX, but overall I'm liking it more than I did EDFX

Using it, and liking it lots. Makes hud colour changing easier too even though the choices are limited.

Loaded this up the other day (the ReShade elements at least) - it's pretty good, if slightly convoluted to adjust. It also only works in 2D mode as far as I could figure out (so no advantages for VR folk)

I have mine on deep space feeling highend effects black edition, I love the heat haze affect on other ships, also on missiles passing by the front canopy lol

Is there much of a performance hit? My machine is just below min-specs, so can't really afford any fps drop.

I couldnt say, I have a hi-end system, I tried maxing out the settings, it doesnt make a dent in my FPS, there are different pre programmed settings for different types of pc setups

I've tried this but it always seems like you make it better in some areas but others lack... I can't ever find a balance. Like you can make station interiors better but then planets look off.

What is EDFX? Please elaborate.

It's a thing that is really complicated to set up and really picky about what SO, version and Graphics card are you using.

Tried different times without any success... no intention to complicate my life again.

UNLESSS.... recent versions made the process more easy... then.. shut me up.

Thats why I've never bothered with it. 2 steps forward, 2 steps back. Back at square one.

That's not quite true. If you are after huge graphical changes that is true. But if you just want to sharpen the image and boost vibrance abit it works just fine. Game looks much more vivid after that and there's not a single location that looks bad. I can't play with vanilla settings anymore after I tried reshade 3.

I wouldn't bother in that case. Depends of the effects you use but there's always fps drop.
