To be able to prioritise research for the staff

When you assign a staff member to a research project it appears that the game will automatically remove them from the task if there is another job in the game to fulfill.

This can mean incomplete research tasks go unnoticed.

There should be an option to either force the staff member to remain on the current research task until it is complete before leaving or to have them automatically return to the research project after the zoo job demand has been fulfilled.

I agree with this. I hired a mechanic/engineer guy and shoved him into a corner of the zoo with just a workshop and a staff room as a work zone, and he still hasn't managed to research a single thing lol. Every time he takes a break he just ends up idling around and complaining about how boring his workload is. I also occasionally find him walking in circles with his toolbox for some reason. My veterinarians don't have this problem, and seem to do a good job of researching things on their own, which makes me think that they intend for it to work that way eventually and that maybe it's a localized issue that some players are experiencing

My vets would often stop researching without me noticing as well. I cant tell if its not enough space in the required building or them going off to do other work though, I assumed the latter. Either way it needs to be more clearly presented with options to prioritise either and an auto-return to previous job mechanic

It's not a clean fix as I'd want idling staff researching but hire another staff member and look at their info.
You can change their list of jobs so make them only research and they shouldn't do anything else.

Not sure if the come back from breaks to carry on or if they slip into idling.
