To Cmdr. Stranger

Hey pal*! I wish to express my gratitude, as thanks to you last night I had quite a thrill.

Last night, at the distress signal location, you decided to go alone VS many players in your Eagle. Not only I admired your courage/madness, but I decided, after a scan of your equipment, that I would remain at a respectful distance. I had nothing to even remotly threaten you seriously, and I was willing to survive as I was saving for a Cobra. You decided I was as good a target as any other, and shoved a good deal of laser shots into my poor Sidey. As I helplessly watched my hull integrity drop below a two digits number, I thought I was done for and good to spend even more bucks into insurances.

Half-blinded by the light bursts, I saw the cockpit glass cracking, and finally exploding. It was the very first time I experienced that. The sounds almost muted, Betty warning voice became an underwater whisper. The effect was so nicely done that I thought I suffocated a bit in front of my screen. You didn't have time to finish the job, as another Cmdr's Anaconda decided to pulverize your ride for the tenth time or so. And there I was, floating in the void, my cockpit cracked open. Still not dead, to my surprise. Then, I noticed the helmet visor occupying my filed of view, and the remaining oxygen level countdown (9 minutes). Still confused, I escaped the fray and engaged supercruise to Azeban city.

To make it short, I barely made it to the station. I even got an interdiction during the travel. When I finally had the «*atmosphere restored*» message, I had a little more than one minute left.

Kuddos to the devs and designers for such a conception, that was quite a thrill. That game is gonna be brillant. And thanks again for the trip, Stranger :D

Good Idea !!!

Wow, quite a story you have there. You've actually stumbled on a good idea, 'Personal Commander Logs' somewhere where you can document your previous (or current) flight. With that also give the ability to either email the log to the commanders personal address (outside ED), or transmit the log to another commander.... (which could be good when in factions and fleets, you could submit a report to your squadron leader.

If you want you can even write it like William Shatner...

" Captains Log.......... I.... picked up .. a.... distress call and ..... decided to help... Unfortunately...... my ship.... was... quickly disabled..... I only had time....... to save.........4 of my toupee's....."

:p

That is an idea actually - I'd like something in game that logged your flight and purchases - but I think I may also go down the Captain's Log route with a short video log on my laptop for each play session..

And - nice story OP.

If saving the video locally... but I am not so sure that the frontier company would be able to store thousands of videos per hour, while keeping historic videos as well. Unless they make the game a subscription based to cover costs of all the storage servers needed. I could be wrong, and if they could do it, I too would welcome video logs.

Thrilling story! I was well impressed the first time it happened to me, but I didn't manage to reach any station and miserably died in space alone...

As for the Personal Commander's Log - very good idea!

Speaking from experience, I have a mod for Skyrim that adds a "Dragonborn Journal" - basically a notepad (nicely done tough, functionally and visually wise) where you can type down whatever you want.

I love some good RP, so I started noting down my adventures, basically turned it into my character's diary. I got addicted to this in no time and I was really surprised how this has increased the immersion for me and how much more I attached to this character I became.

Some kind of in-game personal log for the player in ED with an option to maybe export that into a text file or something would be awesome!

Yes - I meant I would just save video locally - was thinking more of a text log in game.

I have just seen that they are doing something along this line already :

Forgot about that...

it might be... that it was me in the 4n4c :)
i want to mention that pilots like Stranger make me fear of him coming back with 2 or 3 mates, cause it was hard to out-maneuver an eagle - so fast, that even flying backwards is not always helping.
btw, i enjoy a good battle. i should get some cargo again, so players can get their "reward" from busting me up.

also i learned that its a *good* idea to check modules (especially the cargo hatch)... cause one day i was wondering where all that gold, resonating separators etc came from.. how embarassing to scoop up my own goods ^^

cheers!

Why did you post this exiting story! ._.

Now I will probably go insane before Elite: Dangerous reaches standard beta...

I had the experience in alpha its brilliant ! Slightly spoilt in alpha by docking with only seconds to spare and then to watch helplessly as those seconds just carry on counting down ! Glad theyve fixed it ;-)
