To DB & FD: Sell the client but please open source the experience

I had a lot of fun during beta 2 flying around and just making lots of credits doing delivery missions. I upgraded quickly and there were no interdictions. I enjoyed taking in the vast spaces and nice graphics.

I have limited time to play, some days not even a minute. I work 2 jobs, trying to stay financially ahead of bills due to a medical issue one my children had a few years ago.

You guys have built an amazing engine and I don't know why but I enjoy landing and taking off, it stimulates the imagination in pretending I'm flying a big space ship, etc.

However, I don't share your vision of such a vicious galaxy. I'm not knocking it though, some people enjoy it but many of us older people don't. We have busy lives, kids, responsibilities and just want a relaxing time when we play.

I think there's a huge minecraft-like opportunity here FD to open source the experience, meaning FD continue selling and making improvements to the client and basic galaxy server but please provide a way for others to create their own galaxy and vision and make their own server to your client. I'd rather have 50 galaxy's I can visit with the client I purchased from FD than just your own galaxy.

I think this is why Minecraft was so successful. People had the choice to either play basic Minecraft or go play any of hundreds (or thousands?) of mods which kept it interesting for a long time. Notch didn't force you to only play his vision, he made a cool engine and allowed people to go nuts...and it's fun.

A secondary request which is to add another completely independant Solo mode where there's no interdictions and would basically be just an explore mode which would have 1-way rules where it would use the same evolving galaxy but trade and battles done in that mode would not affect the full multiplayer galaxy in any way and the profile used for that mode would not be playable in full multiplayer or current Solo. If a mode like this were available I would play that almost exclusively.

Thanks for hearing me out.

P.S. - DB: if there's any way I could get feedback that you got this message I will log into the store support and cancel my request for 3 refunds (one for me and 2 for my older children). You asked why people wanted offline mode so much in the q&a threads but it was over and locked before I got to post. Here's my answer. I will cancel with the hopes that offline might one day be a reality or something like the above but all I'm asking is for DB to get this message because he asked.
