To Devs | Any news on the next update?

Note: This isn't a rant, I love this game and I play it more than Battlefield 4, Smite, GTA V, and Halo on my Xbox. I just would like to have this game playable and so I can recommend it to my friends. Because at this moment, you really cant.

For being apart of "Game Preview", we knew as buyers that the game isn't completely finished and or it will have bugs/glitches/crashes like in Steam Early Access. But lets face it, you guys (the Devs) are great with the community but with 4 weeks already in and with only one update that really didn't fix or add anything new (from my point of view). The game needs its second update because its basically unstable and crashes every single time when playing at this point in time.

Where does it crash?
- Everywhere, when safe disengaging to a Station/Port, when entering/exiting hyper drive, when in supercruise, and much more.

Some questions:
1) Is there going to be a schedule on when you release updates or is it when a update is done, do you just send it into Microsoft Certification on that day?

2) Are you planning on release this next update when CQC comes out like in a huge patch (kinda like a Battlefield patch) where its like a 2GB download. And the patch fixes any bugs/glitches/crashes but then it also adds new features for the game (which we hope for the friends list integration in Comm's Panel)? Or will these type of things like updates/patches, will they be updated differently and separately?

Once these questions have been answered by the Devs, Moderators you can lock/close the thread. Just trying to get some answers for both me and the community on why its taking so long.

Thanks,

azgoodaz

Well, to update the thread about the update/patch. This is from a Dev Update blog post:

For the Xbox players we're putting the final touches on the next GPP release which as well as a raft of fixes and tweaks adds CQC Championship to the game. We'll announce when we have a firm date for that, but it will be soon. One aspect of the Xbox version that is requiring specific focus is performance and the performance gains that we make putting together that version will come across to PC and Mac where possible.

We have been looking into the cause(s) of the reported occasional stuttering when approaching planets that some people have reported, particularly on specific very high-end machine configurations, which is understandably frustrating for players experiencing it and is proving equally frustrating for us investigating it. We are continuing to dig into the issue and will update when we find a solution.

Thanks!

Michael

The game won't release for a few months AT LEAST I'm pretty certain, don't get your hopes up on a full release too soon. 4 weeks is nothing for the scope of what they want in the game at release, be patient and enjoy what you have so far

My guess would be next patch is cqc later this month. As far as you saying this isnt playable simply isnt true, ive been playing 10 hrs a day since release with only a handfull of crash's.

I never said anything about getting a Full Release.

You must have a lot of patience then for crashes and be very lucky with only a handful of crashes. Because at the point when it crashes 5 mins in when playing the game, is a bad start for a gaming day.

You need to read what was wrote better i clearly said ive only had a handfull of crash's. Also how do you buy a preview game then turn around and grip about its current state, maybe the preview program is not for you. Make sure to research before you buy if your looking for bug/crash free games then you want to wait on these games till released.

How do I buy a Preview Game and grip about its current state? Well unlike most people, that just play it for the fun of it. I do both play it for fun and submit feedback for the developers, and I even submitted suggestions for the game to make it a better game when it gets Full Release.

I have tested in around 38 closed/open alphas/betas (and even internal testings) for games on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. With those testings I submit feedback for those developers, I'm not here to sh*t on Elite: Dangerous in Game Preview. Of course its going to have bugs/glitches and crashes but hey thats why I like to give feedback so they can get fixed asap and make the game playable for those who have the issues.

Since day 1, playing at least 10 hours a day, I've had 3 crashes.

You and a few others are very lucky then.

After you crash reset your ip address this will clear saved connection data in the server...
I see so many complaints.. go play Star Citizen on Xbox one and tell me what you think of it.. ... Oh wait It will never be on a console... ED don't look so bad now does it!

The only update that I think that it needs at this point is the ability to join up with friends to form your wings without having everybody trying to get on the same server which is such a pain at the moment.

Maybe you're right. On the other hand you seem to expect too much too fast from the dev's. No problem with the high expectation's but speed is rarely a small team's strong suit. Plus you may have missed but before and after the update you had to download they had fixe's to the Db Scout utility mount issue and probably a few other issue's that I hadn't noticed. Just so you know. :)

there's no need to get defensive folks, nobody here gets paid to make ED or run PR for Frontier.

The game does crash a lot for a lot of folks in Open. I pretty much can't travel anywhere in Open, so I stick to Solo because that mostly works.

That's not something that needs the defending of ED's honor. It's a bug. Asking when a new update might come out is a valid question, as it might fix that bug.

Don't get your nerdrage on. Everybody on this forum is your ally.

Probably I am excepting too much and too fast. Since they are Game Preview, I thought Xbox would allow Developers to push update to their games faster and with no problem unlike a standard game that gets released and you have to wait days/weeks until Microsoft Certification is done. Me personally, I would rather see at least two small updates each week fixing, tweaking things or even adding new things in. Thats why I asked if they have a future schedule they will follow to release updates.

Normally and update to a released game costs about 10k$ to get Microsoft to verify it . NOT sure about the preview program but in some instance this is merely a cost saving method Compiling several updates into one..

I crash every 5 minutes as do a lot of people count yourself lucky.he's not asking them to fix the game immediately he's asking can they tell us an eta on the next patch. I don't why this deserved a reply I just got annoyed at the irony of, "read what you wrote", even though OP's post made perfect sense and yours didn't.

that is a lie.

I have got to agree. 10 hours a day since release and 3 crashes? Give me a break!

Credibility = ZERO!

And to the topic of this thread... I too would like to know WHEN we are going to see a more stable/playable build! The ORBIS STARPORT station model is bugged beyong belief, and considering it is the most widely used station model in the game, that is a lot of locations I can't visit because every time I do my game crashes to the dashboard while trying to get under the 7050Km to call for docking permission. I rarely have a chance to activate the Docking Computer since the game makes a loud BUZZ and quits to the dashboard before I usually get close enough to even call the station!

All the other station designs in the game? No problem at all! I can play for hours on end, avoiding all the ORBIS station locations, but the minute I try to visit one of those.... BUZZ! Crash to Dashboard.

Considering we are now over 2 weeks since this DOG of a build was released, I think it is a reasonable question to ask how much longer we are going have to wait before we get something more stable? SOON doesn't cut it after 2 weeks!

I could care less what the apologists think about people posting the truth about the state of the game. I too have been alpha and beta testing console games for over 30 years. I have never been forced to hammer on such an unstable build of a game for this long before it was replaced with something better.

Mine was crashing everytime I jumped to a new system, it would just buzz then quit to the dashboard.
I have an external hard drive set to my primary storage location, so I've moved it direct to the internal drive and have had zero crashes since!

Until yesterday that statement was true. Unfortunately yesterday I left my ussual haunt to get a Courier. After leaving my "safe area" I had 24 crash's in 2 hour's until I made it back to my ussual area. And the 3 crash's I had before then were at 1 starport I've avoided which was an Orbis.
