To Fully Kit Asp X or Buy and kit Python?

generally a python is a good idea for everything.

you can even make a nice exploration build - it is has one of the better jumpranges in the game if kept lightweight.

so buy

1. a trading python.

2. a multipurpose python.

3. a combat python.

4. a mining python.

5. an exploration python

or, if you don't want to own 5 pythons, buy a python for multipurpose, and fit 4 other specialised ships. i for exampel own only 3 pythons.

hint: AspE explorer makes a better explorer than a python (but is more boring to fly).

You own 3 Python?

I hope they threw in a free set of Falcon Delacey mats on the last one?

Also do you think that owning five versions of the same ship suggests we need more ships?

I advise CMDRs when faced with the choice of "Do I fix up the old clunker or do I buy another ship?" all other things being equal as in, I have not identified a definite need for a Python I just want one: Don't buy the Python, fix up the Asp-X. It is called Asp Explorer after all, that's what the "X" in Asp-X stands for. Much, much greater jump range than a Python, with enough slots to get the exploration job done and a great view out the canopy window, too. When you need to short-haul over 100 tons of cargo, then think Python.

You can either have a beast of an Asp-X or a wimp of a Python. Fix up the Asp-X. o7

I used my AspX until I could afford to make a really decent python. The aspX is one of the best explorers for its price. I still prefer it for exploring over the Python. Right now I am enjoying the Orca though, great passenger ship and really decent explorer.

My fully equipped Python is worth 188m credits at 15% discounted systems and you could probably shave 30-50m credits off that and it would still be perfectly usable, but you are still 53m credits short even then.

I would advise you to pimp out an ASPx for multi roll or exploration for sub 50m and you will have something very useful on your hands.

I love my Python, but my ASPx is my taxi for jumping around the bubble running errands due to fact it can land on all pads and can be engineered to have 50ly+ jump ranges which is insanely handy if you need to go somewhere or want to go explore.

I would advise you to have a well engineered ASP with a long jump range (40+ly) and then add some more specialised ships to your fleet when you can afford them.

My most recent project was pimping an Anaconda until I brought it up to a useable state, where I was making money in my Python and collecting engineer materials in my ASPx then eventually swapping into the Anaconda once it was engineered and fitted for bulk trading to make the last bit of money to buy its weapons, higher rated powerplant, weapon capable distributor, fighter bay and other bits and pieces to turn it into a trader with some very sharp teeth than can take on any interdicting NPC short of Dangerous+ Anacondas, which I simply run from.

A Anaconda should be able to take on another anaconda. No reason to run.

I kill Elite Annacondas in my Python. Although I will loose a couple of rings of my shields doing so. More if I screw up and get in front of it.

we always need more ships.

and i own 3 pythons. as the hull isn't the most expensive part of a python, and, for exampel, refitting my combat python to my trade python would mean swapping out literarally all modules beside FSD (and storage is restricted), it made more sense to me to outfit three at a certain point.

i built my combat python to get into larger ship combat (being a speedy small ship cmdr), and i have to say it is as good as my FDL pve (still the speed of my lightweight FDL is more fun to fly,...).

generally I'd say the python is a bit too good after engineering. there are several ships which i don't fly because python - dropship for exampel, t6/AspE medium pad trader for exampel, and there isn't even a good reason for a mining clipper or a shortrange exploration cmkIV because python. so, we are not actually necessarily missing more ships, even if more ships are always necessary, we are just facing a ship being better than most alternatives.

good thing is i love the atmosphere of a pythons cockpit. my multipurpose/mission runing python which i own since 1.3/1.4. was always an amazing mobile living room for me and still is.

Well there is a huge price difference between the 2 you can buy a python and put some good parts on it but won't be able to fully kit one, so I'd take the asp explorer

I can take on Anacondas in my combat fitted Python but my Anaconda isn't a battleship (can't afford it) and loses to fully combat fitted ones if going head to head.
