Geraldo, you did not last long. I am so so so sorry.

Sorry mate, but Navya works for me now, under her Real name : Mei Osborne.
She neede a break, and thought this would be the best for both of you.
She sends her regards.

Cheers Cmdr's

What little time I spend in open has largely been free of nonsense.
But I did have someone try this once - as I typically depart the station at around 98 - just enough to not actually be speeding.
The first bump wasn't enough to push me over the speed limit nor break their little ship, and as they recovered to try for bump number two...

I boosted out of the slot, between the wall and an NPC Beluga on its way in, which I'm sure gave them all the satisfaction they needed to finish touching themselves.

Empathy for your loss, Commander, and may your speed griefer catch it in his zipper every time he uses it.

I can't be certain, but even if you are flying less than 100. Destroying another ship results in a bounty. The OP said the Sidey waited inside the station and began to crash until his ship was destroyed and they suddenly became wanted.

Something similar has happened to me a few months back at Shinrarta. I was taking off from the launchpad in my Corvette and there was an explosion and suddenly my ship was wanted and destroyed by the station. I believe a heavily damaged Sidey or eagle was waiting for my ship to take off and got nudged to death. All he has to do is sit 20m above the Corvette and wait. Remember, there is no access to the radar until clear of the pad so it's impossible to see if anything is waiting without using the external camera.

My Corvette still had its landing gear extended and was still lifting vertically so there was no way I was in violation of the speed limits.

I sent a report to FDEV and the promptly refunded my credits.

This should be tested in beta. If you going slow and a ship rams you and die you should not get wanted or killed.

No more of a scumbag than someone that judges the character of another man by his gameplay choices.

The way a person chooses to treat others reflects upon themselves and will rightly cause their character to be judged, whether positively or negatively. The medium through which the interaction takes place is irrelevant.

I've always had pretty good luck with just going full speed in and out of stations - had several would be griefers vapourise on me - barely ever get scratched by the station (not bothered if I'm wanted or fined or whatever). Did get killed once by a group using a cascade torpedo boat (bit overkill as I was in a cobra at the time), but getting attacked by four is pretty much always game over - unless you are very fast and /or lucky.
Keeping to the speed limit is probably sensible, but getting the "hell out of dodge" seems to work not bad as well.

Oh balderdash.

90% of Open CMDRS are fine. Don't paint us all with your brush. The only light I see is the one shining out your .....

Well, in fairness I'll say that 80% of open cmdrs that I meet outside hotspots are fine upstanding fellow-members of the pilots federation. We may not always have the same goals and sometimes those goals are in conflict so we might exchange a little fire all in good fun but they are mostly decent folks and it rarely results in a kaboom provided we both play a little smart.

Around any kind of hotspot or within a single jump of the starter systems, I'm afraid that percentage really doesn't look quite so pretty. There's more lulzbunnies and the others are more likely to want to count the "win" as sending you to the rebuy screen rather than driving you off.

Really? In a hotspot like CG, I generally see 10-20 commanders at stations and in SC and two or three "pirates". That still falls into those 80% of yours.
Personally 100% commanders I have met outside the hotspots were either friendly or non-responsive but went about their business. I only ever meet jackasses in hotspost and it's rarely more than one.

Sorry for your loss. I despise griefing in any game.

This is why I don't play in Open. Yes, I'd love to play more with real folk, but my spare time is too valuable to donate hours of it recovering from being someone's explosion. I absolutely understand that not everyone in Open is a mindless griefer, but until there aren't *any*, or the ones that are there can't ruin my enjoyment of the game, I'm out.

Do report him though. ED may sanction him, but at least they'll look at it and maybe work to removing this exploit.
