President Hudson,
I recognize that citizens of the Federation do not trust a religious sect that worships the Thargoids as angels. I applaud your patronage in accepting the Alliance's call of amnesty for the incarcerated Far God cultists. I believe they will do better under the care of the Alliance; this gives them leniency in what would have been a 10-year sentence.
But I worry about the precedent this sets for religious freedom in our society, so I would like to put forth a petition that would allow these former constituents to regain their Federal citizenship and previous assets after the end of the war. In addition, with the disappearance of the Dedicant we still owe adherence to the Far God religion a debt of gratitude for finding Seo Jin Ae. I believe in a renewed effort to find the megaship and escort it to Alliance space.
The important question the Federation has had to ask itself is: at what point does something become a cult? At what point does freedom of religion go too far?
I have my answer sir. Whoever calls themselves a messiah with ill intent, and people who want to bring about the apocalypse are indeed toxic. But the people who follow them are being used and abused. Alba Tesreau herself could attest to that, so they deserve amnesty. Their emotions in response to our conflicts with the Thargoids have been taken advantage of.
