These Eagle maulers, whoever they are, are giving the Eagle a bad name.
Beware, jumping into a newly purchased Eagle to finally check it out may very well draw the ire of others so ganked by evil Eagle drivers.
I had finally got my Eagle, was actually doing trade runs in it because, like an idiot, I forgot to sell my 2 gimbled pulse lasers and carry extra cash, and ended up very poor after the purchase. I needed to make credits... safely.
But I was completely surprised when a sidewinder attacked me(clean) right outside a station. That's NEVER happened before! I got the distinct impression he absolutely hated Eagles - no matter who the pilot was. The sad thing is is that I could almost empathize with him. He had the jump on me, but I think the station opened up on him and destroyed him, as I was so out of sorts with 1 fixed pulse laser and missing all over the place. That's what happens after getting so used to and reeking havoc for a week with a pair of gimbles.
Unfortunately, he had a buddy with him, (either that or someone of a similar mind, who'd caught notice of the gun play and automatically assumed that it was me and my Eagle who'd started it), and that worm destroyed my beautiful, 1 fixed pulse laser Eagle.
It was, to be sure, a very short romance between it and I.

I can still remember the deep, throaty rawr of its engine, with a growl so distinct and different from a sidewinder.
I'm back in a 1 pulse laser sidewinder at the moment... and pretty much getting owned. Well, by players, anyway. The NPCs are no match for me.
While I've moved beyond getting frustrated and annoyed, am still playing, I'm really starting to look forward to single player at this point. I'm at a skill level where I can dominate NPCs, but not nearly skilled enough to tangle with the good human pilots... and I prefer dominating. It does wonders for my morale.
