To that guy in an Eagle, Eranin Distress

Some other nice Eagle pilots showed up to play.

Some good flyers, some good at tactics (waiting till i'm going on an anaconda far off...out of boredom).

Problem with Eagles is their "freeze bug" where the temperature will stay at near zero...regardless what you do. If that happens, the first time they appear is when they open fire.

But no ship losses so far for me today.
I never did "win" though...not on my killboard.
Either i got away (not by quitting cowardly but by running away cowardly) or my opponents were so unlucky to getting into network problems...disconnecting as soon as they were in trouble. Happened about 5 times today.

So please: If you attack me, don't quit out if you lose. When you can't afford repair / replacement, don't attack me.
I never quit out, i can replace about 40 Cobras...doesn't matter to me.

If you want PvP (i don't ask you for it, i just accept your invitation), please deal with the consequences, or get a nice pink dress for your ship.

Hadn't heard of that bug, but it explains a lot. Finally got my Eagle yesterday (I don't have much time to play at the moment, buried at work) and while I never had an issue with the distress area before, I got utterly bummed yesterday, always by a pilot in an Eagle. I always keep one eye on my scanner, and was happily hunting NPCs (tend to avoid other players, I'm there for testing and fun, not bragging rights!) when suddenly I was blown out of the sky by an Eagle that "magically appeared" behind me, from a range of just 100m. Respawned, came back, and the same thing happened - nothing on the scanner, then suddenly the flashing hollow red triangle of another player firing on me. This time I managed to evade, but they took the tactic of just ramming me repeatedly (!?!?) since my shields were down, and assumedly his lasers had overheated.

So gave up the distress area and just flew about a bit, since the next time I kick the bucket, I won't be able to afford the insurance payout!

These Eagle maulers, whoever they are, are giving the Eagle a bad name.

Beware, jumping into a newly purchased Eagle to finally check it out may very well draw the ire of others so ganked by evil Eagle drivers.

I had finally got my Eagle, was actually doing trade runs in it because, like an idiot, I forgot to sell my 2 gimbled pulse lasers and carry extra cash, and ended up very poor after the purchase. I needed to make credits... safely.

But I was completely surprised when a sidewinder attacked me(clean) right outside a station. That's NEVER happened before! I got the distinct impression he absolutely hated Eagles - no matter who the pilot was. The sad thing is is that I could almost empathize with him. He had the jump on me, but I think the station opened up on him and destroyed him, as I was so out of sorts with 1 fixed pulse laser and missing all over the place. That's what happens after getting so used to and reeking havoc for a week with a pair of gimbles.

Unfortunately, he had a buddy with him, (either that or someone of a similar mind, who'd caught notice of the gun play and automatically assumed that it was me and my Eagle who'd started it), and that worm destroyed my beautiful, 1 fixed pulse laser Eagle.

It was, to be sure, a very short romance between it and I. :D I can still remember the deep, throaty rawr of its engine, with a growl so distinct and different from a sidewinder.

I'm back in a 1 pulse laser sidewinder at the moment... and pretty much getting owned. Well, by players, anyway. The NPCs are no match for me. ;)

While I've moved beyond getting frustrated and annoyed, am still playing, I'm really starting to look forward to single player at this point. I'm at a skill level where I can dominate NPCs, but not nearly skilled enough to tangle with the good human pilots... and I prefer dominating. It does wonders for my morale. :D

My "hatred" against Eagles would never go so far...in fact i don't hate them at all, neither their pilots (i really enjoyed riding one).
Attacking Players outside the station...that's the only way to pretend playing a pirate at the moment. A bad excuse in my way of sight.

But in a Warzone, i usually keep my eyes open and check any "undecided" player coming in untill he made his decision. If he turns "red", i move in position and wait...maybe provoking an attack without firing. If he doesn't, i'll follow him and look if he attacks some other player of my team.
Most will leave after a while without a shot fired.

I don't fear Eagles...but if i spot a "red" one in my instance, i'll check if he's on my list...and if he is, there is no wait, it's party time.

i dont have any reason for hating eagle pilots btw, we all want to harvest some cash, and as soon they recognize that, everything works out (mostly).
btw: a few hours ago, i and 5 other green hollow blips were on the radar, later 8 for some minutes. a spirit of cooperation was all around - i will definetly spend more time there.
oh, and Eranin ftw.
