Horizons (To the Devs) Whatever happend too.....?

Since early days, DB promised that one of the things we would be able to do was NAME OUR SHIPS! This is one of those little things that is a big immersion builder. Now, I am not stupid. I recognize that problem is in preventing those nasty off-color names that some commanders will surely try to use. But here's the thing. They manage to police Commander Names and they also managed the NCP names that some early backers were allowed to add. It can't be that hard for them to monitor and prevent nasty ship names. They could do automated first pass and send any questionable names to a human for inspection. How about making it part of the Commander signup dialog. Choose a commander name and a ship name. That would kind of slow people down since they would have to go to the website again to change their ship name.

I know it's a little thing, but it was promised from day one and as far as I know, Frontier has never said "we've decided not to do that after all"!

What about it Frontier?

That has been promised? Could you indicate where? remember there's a lot of hearsay people 'think' the devs said or heard from another that the devs 'said' but they haven't really said.

I think there should be a delay on naming ships. You should have to register and wait a year for the name to be cleared.

:p

That was a joke, by the way.

I believe it was mentioned in the original Kickstarter drive and in several early videos made DB. I haven't heard anything about it in a long, long time.

Especially with the game handing out names like "Ivana Bonner" to NPCs.

They mentioned it on one of the horizons or engineers streams. One of those "on the list" things.

All aboard the MagnificentStiffy. Head out & go deep.
... Money back if not completely satisfied.

Too much to handle? Try my smaller short range vessel; the TeenyWeenie. Still a good ride with the right touch.

... See this is why we can't have nice things :D

As for ship names, I think I'd go for something Classical. Refined, even. There's a sense of real style to a rapid entry to station's 'mouth' in a ship named Irrumabo Vos.
