Just wondering how my shields went from 100% to zero in a flash.
Anyway, I'll know better next time.

It was likely plasma, with smaller ships they will not only take out your shields but your shield module in a single hit. Rail guns tend to take two to three hits to take down shields, unless the target is running with a shield module that is too small for the hull mass, such as an asp running a class three.

So the mines were no use then? I've wondered about trying them.

I also got mugged in Fujin last night, and again by a different CMDR at the next stop Wolf 1301. Fortunately both were genuine pirates. My evasion plan went completely to pieces under pressure. I lost the interdiction, forgot to chaff (is there a way to tell whether he's using gimballed weapons?), forgot shield cells until too late. A misunderstanding with my key-macros meant that I stopped boosting.

At 30% hull and shields gone the HUD said "Missiles". Then something like "Foreign body has attached to the ship" - presumably limpets. Fortunately my FSD finally finished its very slow charge and jumped and I don't think I lost any cargo. He could have easily destroyed me if he'd wanted.

I usually try to escape from pirates rather than give cargo. It's more exciting. But then sometimes I load some more valuable cargo (the locally bought rares aren't worth much unless you travel far to sell them), fly back to get interdicted again and make a donation, Charity to pirates? They wouldn't like to think so.

Mines are incredibly useless. I run into every single one when chasing someone and don't care...so much for that opening cinematic! They could use a buff of about 5x the current damage before I consider slowing to avoid.
