To the Rendering team:

To be blunt, I wasn't perfectly happy with the look in the trailers either; They already exhibited the peculiar "binary" terrain variety, with patches of land being a quilt of rarely more than two discrete and wildly set apart levels of frequency and amplitude in the hilliness, giving that appearence like when a game places assets with very low resolution texture/uv-map, right next to very highly detailed ones. Often it looks like you are flying above an old 8-bit large-grid based RPG map, with only two tiles in the tile set.

It is promising that measures have been taken to make texture tiling (slightly, so far) less apparent, but there is still sooo many repeating orthogonal straight lines, that makes the terrain look more like diamond-bas-relief floor plating, than anything natural.

EDIT: The sense of scale is tremendously improved, though. Distant land really looks like distant land.

I'm sure they have some places where the rendering is spot on. I saw a streamer that had elevators that looked complete. The elevators on my station are like rough sketches. Guess that's why I heard NPC background chatter that this station is terrible.

While we're at it I think we should get a refund, or at least a balance pass on Australia.

Sure the cliff is nice, but you call that good terrain rendering? We were promised this in the promo!
